I have recently purchased a Eurovox EX5000 box and i am having problems installing firmware.

I am using UFL_EX5000_v1.1a, it writes for about 90 secs ( top bar does not fillup at all, bottom bar fills up after about 60 secs) and comes up with "Downloading is failed...". I have left it on for a couple of minutes after this but nothing happens.

When running there is no scart lead connected to the TV and no cable lead connected.

Using a null modem cable with pin 4 connected to pin 1 + 6. pin 1 to pin 4, 2-3, 3-2, 5-5, 6 -4, 7-8, 8-7, 9-9.

Com port settings are all at default. ie. 9600 baud , 8 data bits, parity- none, stop bits - 1, flow control - none. "Use fifo buffers" checked, receive and transmit buffers at high.

I have tried resetting factory defaults.

Anybody else have the same problem or know what how to resolve it?

Many thanks in advance

Try the earlier version v1.1 just to rule out its not the firmware. Usually it says "start" in the dnupman, which tells you the com port is ok and connected. Then it goes thru reading and writing,,top and bottom scroll bars,,takes about 3 mins. Ends with download is succesful.

I have tried both v1.1 and v1.1a. It seems to be skipping the reading part and just writing.
Just checked the system info which reads:
Model DVB-XC EX5000 TDA
S/W Ver 1.0 ST4 JUL 04 2008
H/W VER 2.0T K5 +D
BOOTSRAP v001
S/W Build Kuro

Dont know if that is any help to anyone.

Are there any other uploaders iI could try?

I had the same problem last week, I was using my g/f pc and it just kept failing at 90. I sent away for a usb to serial lead on ebay. I then used this lead on my laptop and the eurovox, and it worked fine.
Maybe you could try using someone elses pc? just to eliminate if it is the pc that has the problem. You wont need to connect a scart or the vm cable.
Good luck

Also, consider you may have a faulty box?

Forgive me for being a bit thick ,,worm007a ,,but im not that well up with pins and baud rates,,I cant see in your message if your using just a straight forward null modem cable to your PC or connecting via a usb adapter. If you are using an adapter than they are hit and miss depending on what make your laptop is, and which usb/rs232 adapter you buy.
in "system information" mine says "july 15th" ,, Id check a few versions of "v1.1a" I think there is one on bigmaq as well. Im not sure which one mine came from.

Shine a light,,,I just noticed I wrote ,,"for" instead of "or",(last but one thread),should have gone to specsavers..

Hi Marvo,

I am using a null modem cable connected direct to a com port on my PC. There is no USB connection/ adaptor.
The version of UFL_EX5000_v1.1a has been modified on 15 July 2008, 20:47:00
