Hi,
I have a 55 plate, Volvo V50 2.0D. When driving the ABS warning light comes on and the engine looses power and a message on the display tell me to stop. When I stop, the car will then not drive.
I have to turn engine off, wait a few minutes and then its ok again, this has happened 3 time in one day.
Anyone have any idea as to what the problem could be, or is a case of having to reset the ABS somehow.
Thanks.

You need to get the diagnostic codes read by a dealer and then repair the problem.

Thanks m8, thought that would the way, was just hoping it may be a common problem and something I could do my self.

Check tyre pressures and depths, we see lots of symptoms like this and the common cause is incorrect tyre size fitted/low/high pressure, this is based on the loss of power aspect (I assume you also have traction control fitted?), that's about the only thing you can check yourself for free, after that codes must be read with suitable equipment. Even new tyres of different brands being fitted can cause it (anyone who stocks tyres can easily compare same size different brands and look at the difference some tyres have... it really is amazing!!!!).

Thanks for the info m8. The tyres are all the same make and in good condition and are inflated to correct pressure.
So looks like a trip to the main dealer.
One thing is confusing me, when the ABS light comes on, why does the engine become disabled.(i assumed the car would still drive but without the ABS)
