Well that?s it then, totally 100% official Virgin are going to Nagra 3,have a good look at the script below pulled from one of the new cards by a member off another forum. If that?s not a smoking gun then I don?t know what is.

Opening of COM2 was successful
ATR String: 3F FF 95 00 FF 91 81 71 A0 47 00 44 4E 41 53 50
31 38 30 20 4D 65 72 30 30 30 28
ROM Revision: 180
EEPROM Revision: Mer000
Error, unsupported card type
Closing of COM2 was successful

For those not very Techy,it shows the card is a ROM180,and it also shows Nagra 3 encryption ,of which there is no known crack.

Rom 180 has been worked on for the last 2 years or so in Europe. There are rumours flying around that its hacked and close to being relased as a closed hack. Whilst this may be good news hackers are unlikely going to release how its done if and when they do crack it also it depends on what rev the spanish provider is using.

This is going to destroy sales off new HD Boxes, so if there is a hack out there now would be the time to release it.

(plus I could cancel my Virgin subscription before the engineer gets here to install it)

So much for IPTV, i always said they would more likely go N3 or NDS.

Then got shot down repeatedly by some very knowledgeable people.

I think we will be waiting quite a while till its hacked in the UK.

No mate all boxes will go down if/when the new encryption rolls out.

but could they be update once someone has found a fix?

if the chip could handle a n3 emulator then theres no reason why any cable box couldnt handle a fix, im no expert but its just my guess but id say anything like that is a long way off

dctyper

it would be able to handle it, its just creating the fix thats the issue

well, I have no doubt they wish or will eventually goto n3, however, I of the mind to simply enjoy what I have now..while I have it and I dont think they can roll it out in a year I mean come on its virgin we're talking about with ntl staff ;)

What would constitute proof of an "N3 stream"?

well in ireland when they had n2 and n3 running alongside n1

you had 1800
1802
1803 streams atm I can only see 1800 in glasgow area

In that case I can tell you that there is no N3 stream running.

Streams that are running in the Leeds area have been discussed on this site before.

I don't think anyone has ever, anywhere, suggested that N3 was running in Leeds.

Nagra 3 has deffo been cracked. goodfta have released an update for the viewsat recievers. So it can be done. Whether the UK hacking scene will be as quick who knows. But there is light at the end of the tunnel. It gives me a great excuse to get a huge dish on the side of the house Woopeee.....

Yes they have been discussed here already and some logs were posted, here is another :

ECM: CaID: 0x1841 -> CaPID: 0x1623 ProvID: 000000 ==|
ECM: CaID: 0x1800 -> CaPID: 0x192F ProvID: 000000 ==|
EMM: CaID: 0x1841 -> CaPID: 0x0081 ProvID: 000000 ==|
EMM: CaID: 0x1800 -> CaPID: 0x0080 ProvID: 000000 ==|

How are you logging the stream Tony?

I've just bought 10 dreamboxes which I have distributed around my extended family. I'm thinking of doing a card share once/if this happens - anyone know where to start with this kinda thing? Also how many people can I get using one card?

cheers

I can also see that there is 1841 running alongside 1800 on my system.

I haven't seen anything that convinces me that it's N3 though; certainly not according to McMav's definition, anyway.

As I discussed elsewhere on here, when 1841 started it put an end to my using V1.7 on the SV4. (I now have a linux box.)

Used Crypto Systems: 1800h: Kudelski SA, 1841h: Kudelski SA

satsmo

How are you logging the stream? Are you just using the PID info from your new box? (EDIT cheers for the info).

1841 is Kuldelski and the card is ROM 180, as you seen from the ATR string on another thread. The only way of getting info is by people logging the stream, the CaID is new but I can guarantee it's in not N1 or N2, maybe a hybrid.

ROM 180 will tell you it is Nagra 3 similar to D+ in Spain. The core is atmel rather than ST on previous cards.

No customers as far as I know have received any new cards and as such these are trial results at an early stage. Where they come from I wouldn't hazard a guess.

tony_i
23rd October, 2009, 03:50 PM
Anyone (including V employees) can post a load of numbers up and say it's a card reading.
Like you say, no one's seen a card.

And I haven't spoken to one regular, full-sub-paying V customer who has a clue that there are new cards on the way. Not one.

Is there a way to link to the new card tutorial video from V's main homepage? If there is, they're certainly not making it easy. I haven't found it (not that I've tried all that hard).

Is that tutorial video showing on channels available to normal V subscribers? I certainly haven't seen it?

I'm not saying that it's not about to happen but I've certainly seen no evidence to convince me.

It wouldn't surprise me at ll if V have decided to throw ten grand at an attempt to ruin the Christmas market.

satsmo
23rd October, 2009, 04:02 PM
The new CaID isnt there for no reason, the logs have come from trusted sources, so I do not doubt them, but that is my opinion and others may.

I said no "customers" have seen a card.

Yes you can get to the tutorial via the main page. Bottom right select installation information.

They do not throw money at an advertisement campaign and a bogus CaID believe me.

tony_i
23rd October, 2009, 04:20 PM
I doubt they'd see the money as thrown away, given the mileage they've got from it.

The CaID could possibly be there for any number of testing purposes. A minimal cost in the grand scheme of things, I'm sure.

Even if you know and trust the source who has read the card, where did the card come from? Who leaked it?

That's me finished anyway. I'm starting to spend as much time on this as the rumour mongers and the gullible. I'm starting to bore myself.

satsmo
23rd October, 2009, 04:26 PM
Now you see where it gets boring without definitive answers. Rumour mongers and gullible as you call them are part and parcel of forum life.

Time and some work usually answers questions that are too early to ask.

In spain they have caid 1810 and are using Rom 180 Rev MJ01.

Who told you that?

There is no viewsat fix for N3. If there was, news regarding Nagra 3 hack would be on all forums like lightening.

Viewsat have promised a fix for Nagra 3 in the states for a while now and each time they set a date for release and on that date no fix turns up. They may using this method to try and boost sales for their useless receivers.

Thanks, but I've done a google and it hasn't come up with the information I asked about.

I'd really appreciate it if you'd help me out here.

It's not that known a fact because I've never heard it before and some people on this forum certainly disagree with your fact.

I'm not knowledgeable enough to know whether you're right or wrong and I'd like to learn.

Hope you'll be able to provide a link (and not just someone's opinion please).

Thanks in advance.

If you read up on posts in different sat forums you would know also its been posted by many members around different cable forums who are more knowledgeable than me (here included).

You need to read up on threads regarding D+ Rom 180 on different sat forums and you will get your answers.

D+ was one of my favorite packages and ever since it has moved from N2 to N3 I always try to keep myself updated with the progress of an N3 hack. If you want to learn more sat forums are your best place rather than cable forums.

I think there may be a new card coming out! Time will tell though, if there is and what it will be....
