Hi guys.

I had a broken cluster in a BMW F10 5series 2011 diesel.

when i bought the new (second hand) cluster, i'd make sure the numbers were the same (see image: not all numbers were the same, there were 2 stickers on the cluster).

then I soldered the original 35180 chip in to the new cluster (because of data). and put in the car.
car starts, but it shows a canbus-error image on the display, and some things dont work (for example: RPM, oil temp, fuel consumption..)

any thoughts on how to solve this?
thank you very much for any help.

It can be different software update. Did you try to put it on the car without changing eeprom.
The eeprom data on the cluster is not all cluster data ,there is flash data also .

Like Pepi said it can have different software and flash and eeprom do not match. You will need transfer Vin form original to new ,write back replacement cluster eeprom ,If you not sure how to do it , Read both cluster eeprom and post here , then someone will help you.
Then after that you need to do Coding with scan tool.

You need to inject "CAFD" with Esys and encode to default and it's all good.

I bought the esys tool. is it without risk for beginners to use?
when i connect the car, will the pogram explain itself, or can you give me a tip, how to code this 'cafd'?

thnx a lot!

Please never ever use that button (yes most cases this can be fixed but just don't use it)! You have to activate FA(right click activata FA). After this there will be green text saying active behind FA. When this is done select KOMBI and click detect CAF for SWE. pop-up will show and just pick the one with highest i-level availible. When selected click code and it wil be coded if VIN is correct in KOMBI.
