Hello everyone.

I have a question. regarding VAG Simos PCR 2.1 stock ECU tune (CAYC engine code).

When the engine is cold, the ECU tries to warm it up faster, so that it runs the mixture rich before the coolant reaches certain temperature.

Can anyone comment on what is the actual value of coolant temparature, when the car is considered as "hot" so that the ECU runs in the most fuel efficient mode?

Thank you.

PS: if you need some ECU numbers, here they are, but I believe this is common for all Simos PCR 2.1 (if not all EDC17):
Address 01: Engine (J623-CAYC) Labels: 03L-906-023-CAY.clb
Part No SW: 03L 906 023 B HW: 03L 906 023 A
Component: 1,6l R4 CR td H23 9971
Revision: --H23---

hardly think so, it's a diesel, not a petrol! you can't "run the mixture richer", since it's lean all the time!

rich afr can only happen at maximum IQ and the only result is a lot of black smoke.

the only thing that makes the engine less efficient is retarded ignition due to cold chamber temperature, and thicker oil (more losses due to friction).

So doesn't the ECU adjust the IQ based on coolant temp?
I think it tries to get the engine warm up faster till a certain point, once it reaches some specified coolant temperature... Wonder what that temperature is set at

idle rpm is adjusted based on coolant temp ;)

RPM depends on injected amount of fuel. Always. Think how diesel engine works.
