Turn on the radio.

Push and hold AM/FM Band Selector and Scan until the word Safe appears on the display.
Release the buttons and a 1000 will appear on the display and then vanish.
Enter the required code (whatever you set it to).
Push and hold AM/FM Band Selector and Scan until the word Code appears on the display.
Release the buttons and the radio station frequency will be displayed.
If the word Safe appears in the display and then the radio station frequency appears, then the code was NOT entered correctly. You still have two more attempts (a total of three) before the radio locks up electronically.
