View Full Version : anyone deal with WIN modules? chrysler dodge jeep ignitions?

i keep getting requests for these locally

their WIN module dies on them and they need it repaired/replaced

does anyone know how to even take them apart?

or what goes bad inside them?

I've fixed a lot of them. And most of them just need to be opened up and clean the contact surfaces on the pcb. i also usually bend the metal contacts a bit so they have better contacts.
never had issues doing this.

I've had some (mostly high mileage cars or work trucks that get turned on/off many times and a lot of dirt gets in them) where the whole mechanism that turns the contacts with the key gets very sloppy. Those you either have to replace or sometimes i have a spare kicking around I'll just transfer the circuit board from the sloppy one onto that one and it's all good.

But also as mentioned above new ones are not too expensive so that is always an option. AVDI can program them easy (just have to go under fiat for some stupid reason), probably some other tools too ...

I tried bench testing Win Modues but always get no communication, is a TIPM or ECU also needed to bench test ?
