Hello,

Is it possible to buy a used ECU and pair it with another BMW S1000RR?

My plan is the following:
I have ISTA+ and Rheingold to program a 'new' or empty ecu to a specific vehicle. Is it possible to reset or virginise a used ECU and then pair it as if it was 'new'?

On the internet i found some stuff mentioning that if you are able to read the ECU by the BDM ports, and then rewrite all the VIN instances with FF or 0, the BMW software recognises the ECU as a new one?

Is this correct?

if you have old ecu from that srr you can make a full bdm read and write in new ecu.but other way you need to extract isn noumber and make virgin to pair with bike.

Unfortunately, the old ECU is not functioning anymore after a bike crash.

I have bought a used ECU without keys from ebay.

@aem,
How could i virgin it after extracting ISN number? I have loads of BMW tools from my work.

Could not save anything from the old one? if you want I can leave the used ECU with your VIN ready to code key
