As previously said, it's exactly the same as a dreambox only it's got a different casing. DM500 images will work too.

I ordered from them yesterday, hope I ain't going to wait two months...!!!
I think it's quite good it's not going to have "Dreambox" on it, as I can just pass it off as a generic Freeview box if anyone asks...!

i sent em an email..cos i want to purchase 4 or 5 but not get stung by customs.. they said that they are sent via EMs from abroad..meaning there is a possibility i could get stung for customs??? think i mite try this other seller and order 1 at time..will try for couple first to see if delivered ok. thats the only thing that put me off with BuyingThings.co.uk - The Online Store (http://www.buyingthings.co.uk/shop/?a_aid=52d01a63&a_bid=86e07af0)! they have no uk stock

BuyingThings only recently have no UK stock but I believe they are planning to keep them in the UK due to the hassle.

Hmm, I ordered from them because it says on their site that the 500c is IN Stock... Is this not true then...?

I ordered a Linux black Box from them yesterday, I emailed them their reply was that they dont have UK stock but do have stock in China, will take about a week to get to me. Their site shows they have stock but thats only in China.
They said in 2 weeks time they will start to have UK stock

I Have emailed them twice now and also tried ringing them but answerphone each time to ask if they have stock in the UK but they have failed to respond at all, this surprises me as in other threads people have said they always respond quickly which leaves me to believe they do not have stock in the UK.

Hi. I purchased two DM500C's from DVBMonkey about 5 weeks ago. It took over three weeks for the boxes to arrive. One of the boxes had a slight fault. The green led did not work. Apart from that everything else was working OK. I emailed DVBMonkey and they requested that I post the box only to BuyingThings.co.uk and also requested that I enclose a letter providing all the details (order no, nature of fault etc). DVBMonkey also stated that an email had been sent to BuyingThings.co.uk to indicate that they were expecting my delivery. I phoned BuyingThings.co.uk before posting the box. I was only able to leave a message. However I did receive a reply by phone a couple of hours later. The gentleman on the phone confirmed that the box would either be repaired or replaced by DVBMonkey. I posted the box on 06/12/08 and despite several phone calls to answering machines and emails, I have received NO reply whatever from BuyingThings.co.uk. I am concerned from reading some of the posts on the forum that I may not ever see this box again!! I have also emailed DVBMonkey as I feel they must bear the main responsibilty for the fauty box.I had not even heard of BuyingThings.co.uk until DVBMonkey provided me with their details. DVBMonkey give a guarantee with the boxes and I assume that if something does go wrong within the warranty period that the boxes would be sent to BuyingThings.co.uk. I didnot realise that BuyingThings.co.uk supplied the Linux Black box which is advertised on the DK site. Is BuyingThings.co.uk a reputable company? Will I ever see my DM500C again? Has anyone returned a faulty box to BuyingThings.co.uk? Any additional information would be most welcome.

i wouldnt send a box back to china if the LED didnt work:eek:!, proberbly just a loose plug inside iv heard of that before, basicly i think when you order from china and send it back its your risk,, what if they say its been lost?, then your knackered, id have put up with the LED, dv* mo*key are usually reliable so id give it time 1st before jumping in, it takes time to mail to china, after all there reputation is built on trust!

BuyingThings.co.uk are fine they work directly with DVBMonkey as the UK service agent, you will see your box again for sure but the process can be a bit long winded with delays in receiving updated information from DVBMonkey.
I have had 2 faulty boxes in the past one fried on power up and the other would not flash and this one i am currently waiting for a replacement this was sent to BuyingThings.co.uk on the 2nd December they aknowledged receipt of the box but have not heard anything since.
Past experience however tells me there's nothing to worry about.. it will show.

I ordered a dreambox 500c from dvb monkey and a blackbox 500c from buyingthings, I haven't received anything yet, which is fine, the thing that's pissing me off is they don't respond to emails or phone calls(this is buyingthings) they're a disgrace, i'll be claiming my money back through paypal if they dont respond to me soon. I only went with them as this site said they were trustworthy. :(

I asked the owner of buyingthings about this guys and he said he's been away all week and will check on things on Saturday.
I know it's no excuse, some of you have been waiting weeks.
