On windows, I'd use SUPER (http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html). Converts anything to anything using ffmpeg and/or mencoder. The download link is on the site, but you have to go through 2 or three pages to get there, and it looks like a google ad. It's labeled as "Download SUPER ? setup file "
