Hi everyone hope someone can help.
Everytime i start my car it says airbag fault stop car but i have turned the airbags off with the key and tried again & same message. the message only used to come on ocassionally now its says it all the time.
Just want to know if i have to go to garage to get rid of this message or can i do it myself.
Thankyou

First for all.
Stilo three or five doors?
Are you skilled enough to take a look in the joint connectors ?
Generally the Airbag warning light in Fiat Stilo apper for two reason.
Losen or bad contact inside the airbag joint connectors below the passegner and driver seats.
Solution:open the joint connectors and clean-up with electronic' spray cleaner.
Second reason:The presence' sensor inside the passenger seat is broken (if i remember well not all stilo have this sensor).
For this type of fault, you must dismantle the seat and replace the sensor.By the way this sort of work require some skill.
Hope this help.
If you find this useful, don't forget to press the thanks button.

Ok.
It's not complicated to open the joint and clean up with a good contact spray.
90 to 100 this is the problem.
Hope this help.

Just Opened up under passenger seat 3 plugs cleaned and sprayed, Under drivers seat 2 plugs cleaned and sprayed and still saying the same, will give it few days to see if it rectifies itself.
Many thanx for all your advice.

If not check the large multiway beaneath the fuse box under the bonnet (next to battery).

The D4 multiway carries some stuff for airbags etc and this getting wet can cause similar issues - it did with me.

Its not far from the wheelarch so a good canditate for getting wet, even more so if you dont have a battery cover.

Good luck

every time i have plugged on it it normaly comes up with passenger airbag, orverride key.

Have spent HOURS getting them to clear, have ended up causing faults then computer flagges up the caused faults then forgets what it said the firsttime around.

pretty sure it will need plugging into reset it.

how odd, did not think fiat drivers noticed things like airbag lights on!

this works but it simulates that is no one in the seat as i know,

do you have simulation that someone is sitting in the seat?

and if it is no one in the seat, will the airbags open for pasenger?

Hello!

I have the same problem in my Stilo, I have tried sensors simulators from airbag24.de but didn't work.. someone know if is possible to have airbag ECU problems? how can I know? I use a airbag diagnostic software that's says: "OCR wrong signal level"..

Any ideas?
Thank you,

Have been plagued with this problem for over 2 years now. Had it reset by dealer three times now and keeps coming back. Asked what the problem is each time and had the following responses:

1 - need to replace wiring OR airbag unit
2 - Airbag ECU needs replaced

Don't want to play guess the broken part (More than the car is worth to do that).

Will give the connectors a clean and check for corrosion under the bonnet. Failing that ?????

Hi all ,maybe it will help to anybody.
In my case ( it was stilo 2003 3 doors with airbag light on ) - it was connector under the drivers seat , I'm just cutted connector and soldered directly cables , and airbag light gone without any reseting . I heard that this is common problem on Fiat.

are you serious ? for what on this schematic you can use 2 w resistors?..all this resistance network is for emulation of graphite switches what is inside mat of youre seat..so if you can find there is no problem to use 0.0000000002W resistors..but we all use some standard value 1/4 or 1/8..only in cases where resistor is used to reduce curent to some larger consumer (coils, small lamps, solenoids) then you can find 1 or more w power resistance..

I should have mentioned that I have just obtained a 3 dr Stilo JTD and have the Airbag light problem. I have tried cleaning the five airbag connectors without success so I assume it must be the passenger seat sensor at fault. Am i correct in thinking that the solution is in this thread?

Ok. I'm now almost on the same page - I have to solder the three different value resistors as per .jpg onto a small circuit board - all I need to know now is where is the PCB as shewn in the .jpg's?

juniormaxxx
11th August, 2010, 09:45 AM
If you want to repair them go to a shop or if you have some diagnostic equipment specify the problem yourself......if you dont need airbags, you just wish for the light to light on and off, you can connect the airbag led parralel to the alternator led(red battery led), of course you will need to break connections to the airbag led............

But as I read it somewhere in this post someone said it is the seat occupation sensor, and most probably it is, pretty common in BMW, MERCEDES, and your tin can......

juniormaxxx
11th August, 2010, 09:47 AM
after all the sensor is not costing big bucks and it is easy to install......

comon man its obviosly that you simple are NOT ABLE TO DO that..as new member yuinormax say first make some diagnostic..define problem ..then you can START to LEARN how to make pcb..etc..etc..etc..it not making a cup of tea...
