it is not diffrent from 2.7 and 2.7 is no diffrent from the 2.6

2.6 is the last update sent to sealey and the 2.7 2.8 are just an edited file to make it say that, it is just a trick for one seller to have later verion than other with no real change

i just got the vag405 and it worked well. after i tryed to hook it up to my laptop i used it on my car and now it says link error i tryed evrything and nothing works, when i hookit up tomy laptop nothing happens my laptop recognizes it but thats about it nothing turns on on the scrren of the scanner. i went everywhere lookin for driver downloads updates, my current firmware is 2.8v, i dont kno what else to do, can someone help thanx

did you press the button, think its the down one , other than that , uninstall the drivers and reinstall them, why are you connecting it too the pc if you have the so callled latest version .

another note to add, is to adjust the contrast after update because if you do not it is harder after because contrast goes to 8% ish

V2.7 is the latest official version of Autel VAG405. Comparing with V2.6, it has added some DTC definitions to the tool and corrected the problem of the keyboard's over-sensitiveness. If you want the update software, please visit ( link and addy removed )

I'll have a look at what is actually in this file. I don'y have one of these scanners yet but am contemplating buying one, especially if the firmware shows signs of being hackable - as in make it do more than the original hardware was meant to do. Ideally it would do what VCDS does without needing to lug along a laptop and kowtow to RossTech by buying one of their scandalously overpriced cables. They reversed the original VAS scanner so I don't see why that can't be done again. It is not as if this needs a beefy CPU - just push some bits over a serial or CAN bus line and that's it...

Hi all, Just registered for the forum today. I tried using my VAG 405 today to set my Passat into Longlife service mode (I have checked and my ECU does support it) however the firmware didn't seem to recognize the car. Hoping v2.7 might be better.

This is excellent. These little machines are a real bonus to the VW Audi Seat owners. They dont do much but can tell you what the problem is and also turn out those annoying little lights !!!

Just some more words about this obsolete scanner ...it can be "updated" , you must solder 4 wire from a USB cable to some pins on the board ,there is a FT232BL..I ve managed to update /rebrand it but the DTC definitions still don t work .The reason is the lack of AT45DB081B flash memory I guess .there is a file called AT45DB081B.bin in the update file but no AT45DB081B on the board or similar

Yeah I had one the eibd version made it into the vag one, then robbed a trsnsister out of it!

very easy to make the USB lead. Datasheet fir 232 chip, then meter to docket 16 pin plug from maplin onto a regular USB cord

I just have registered. I am looking to download firmware 2.7 which appears to be available on top of the thread. However, I am new user so I probably wait for 15mins to download. I have a question to ask. My VAG405 does not start when I connect it to computer. It works with Audi (partially may be due to lower firmware version). So even I get firmware downloaded, I am not sure how to install as my computer does not recognize the device. Any idea is greatly appreciated. Thanks you.

2.7 , 2.2 same s*it , buy vcds ,cheaper and better .For those who can t connect using USB you must open and check for FT232 .
