Does anyone know off hand where BMW and Rover store the vin number of the car in their instrument panels? Its not in the eeprom and can not see anywhere obvious they would store it.

Many Thanks

No MGRover sorry, I have installed a new eeprom that was blank and it still reads the old vin on the vehicle diagnostics, but a new mileage... The eeprom you did for me just said "Err"

Picked up a 2nd hand instrument cluster so thought If I swapped out the eeprom for a blank one the vehicle diagnostic computer would re-write the info from the other ECU's but it is still reporting the cluster is 2nd hand
