if you have just got a ban on the 360 could you post what firmware game etc, it may help people if they can see a pattern to what is happening...

I totally agree - many people are reporting bans but not providing enough info for the smart guys (not me!) to identify any patterns etc.
I have posted that I was convinced M$ were simply detecting flashed firmware-but now I'm not so sure as there are some stiking exceptions. Personally, from all that I've read to date I think it may be one of 3 things that is causing the current bans:
1. Use of activate.iso on 4th wave games.
2. Playing a game before its release date.
3. Playing a bad rip/not properly stealthed of a 2nd/3rd wave game.
I also beleive that doing any of the above OFFLINE (even with no hard drive attached) can cause a ban as the info is being logged somewhere else.
If anyone who has been banned can disprove the above thoeries please post the info that makes you beleive otherwise.

OK - so what game(s) had you been playing before the ban? Have you ever used the activate.iso disc? and (if you know this) what drive is in your box?

No way to Unban console.
Friend of mine was banned last night at 8pm. Turned console on and bam.
Now he never had a wav 4 game in his console.
All games were verified.
He was running 1.51 on Liteon.
So far of all the people i know every combination of drive and firmware has been banned.
None of them had COD MW 2 near them and none played before release date. Except Ghostbusters but this was region free.
There is no pattern we can come up with because microsoft are clever enough to ban in patches.
Think of it as a cable box in the uk. When they go down everyone goes at once. Then couple weeks later firmware is devised to get us back up and running.
There is no pattern with this which allows the firm to be written right away.
Now microsoft on the other hand have been clever enough to hit us whenever they want thus throwing up lots of theories and people trying to come to there own conclusions.
I myself have come to the conclusion that they ban whoever they feel like but know everyone with a mod console.
They leave so many to play away for another year as this brings revenue through online purchases.
So if we all keep wondering what is going on then we will never get to the bottom of it.
New firmware is in testing and it looks like the liteon will be the first to get the new fix but no ETA.
This is how i feel about the current ban as i know people on same firm still going strong some having played COD MW 2.
Its a chance you take and if you get by this burst of bans then you may get the privilage of another year online.

Hey Up Guys, it's all well and good posting your info but somebody needs to be putting the info in some kind of database, so that it can be used efficiently by C 4eva and whoever else is working on new firmware, is somebody doing this ? or does he want us to send info to him ?
If anyone knows post some info please
cheers
Acestu
P.S. if this happens we will need to sort out fields for the Database such as:
connected to live
what game
whas it verified properly
storage setup
Firmware version
and so on
Also would be a good idea to put all the backups you have played through abgx again and do ALL checks to see if they all still pass...

Just to addd to the debate on banning, here's another post I found on ixtreme.net:
I have done significant research on the recent bannings much of which has been from places such as www*xbox360iso*com and from 1-800-4MYXBOX (by using lies such as saying I worked for a beta testing company etc.) and from friends. Apparently, the recent bannings have become signficant after the October 28, 2009 Xbox LIVE system update. And yes it is true, this update has played a role in the recent bans. I asked a lady that worked in the support service what specifically the October 28 update did (besides the increased wireless stuff it mentioned) and she explained it briefly as a means to check for modders and pirates while they play on and offline (as many people were doing with the recent leak of modern warfare 2). Another phone call (and those of many others on forums) confirmed that they can apparently findout if we are using a flashed xbox ie. detecting a firmware [they may be trying to scare us].
Many people tell people who are banned that it was because of playing Wave 4 games or unstealth patched/unverified games or from playing unreleased games - but, there are MANY people who you may read of, who were banned after signing on after months of not playing. Or many who got banned even though they havent played ANY unstealth patched or unreleased games. And also many who have been banned who have never even been able to try playing a backup game! So therefore that is more compelling evidence to non-believers that the recent update was in fact unsafe, contrary to what many people have stated.
Now what you can do? Well i guess the best thing to do is to wait offline (if you dont feel safe online) for a new iextreme firmware :S if anything... but in the mean time there are some steps you can do to remain safe (offline) in some ways. I was thinking that because the xbox service employees mentioned that the update was what was tracking data on and offline it would be best to remove the updates, if you would like to do so you may by following the following steps (this actually works despite the odd procedure.):
. Removing System Updates .
If you feel like removing your system updates, you may notice if you have tried to do so that they are not located in your system memory. So in order to delete them do this:
1. Press the guide button
2. Go all the way to the right
3. Go to system settings
4. Go to memory
5. DO NOT SELECT YOUR MEMORY UNIT *as in your HDD*
6. Press the following buttons in order: X, LB, RB, X, LB, RB, X
7. You will be prompted if you want to remove the updates, it is your choice and they can always be redownloaded within mere seconds of signing into live.
.........................................
Now, if you do happen to find yourself banned here are some things (that i know of) that you will be unfortunate to discover:
1. You wont be able to save games to your HDD
2. Your save files will be corrupt when you transfer them
3. Any gamerscore you get will be obviously counted as offline gamerscore and since your account cant be transfered to another 360 (because it will be corrupt) you will need to migrate it, thus deleting any gamerscore you got after you were banned (while offline).
4.And other things that i may have forgotten to post
Now to avoid losing your hard drive *which may be very valuable to some gamers with all your save files, dlc, great capacity (120gb maybe)*, there is something you can do to see if you are banned ahead of time without losing your HDD.
. how to check if you're banned(keep saves, dlc everything) .
Courtesy of: xXmamadaXx (on www*xbox360iso*com)
Follow this guide:
1.Unplug hard drive and/or memory unit
2.Turn on 360 with ethernet cable/wireless plugged in
3.Go to "system settings" in the dashboard, * Click on "Network", * Click on "Test Xbox Live Connection" * Wait for the results, if it asks you to update click CANCEL. * Click on "Y (Yellow)" to get the status report up on screen:
If the status reports the following you ARE banned:
W: 0000-0008
X: 0000-F001
Y: 00A8-6820
Z: 8015-190D (see this = banned) If your Z: is different you are NOT banned.
ID: 0008-0000
Any other code in the Z: line such as "Z: 8015 - 1002" means you are NOT banned, the only code that means you are banned is "Z: 8015-190D", that is the banned code.
.................................................
Hopefully this post has helped alot of you in understanding what is going on. It is entirely your decision if you want to sign onto Xbox Live with the current circumstances. As it is, it seems that it really WAS the update that flagged people.
Personally I have been staying offline for a couple or so days but now I have thought of trying something else. I was thinking of first checking if i was banned, then signing onto live and playing, and right before i finish i would delete the updates and repeat the process the next day. But the best thing to do at this time is wait offline.
Anyhow im just hoping iextreme looks into it and releases a new firmware soon!

Whoever flashed your drive should have saved the orig firmware files - nothing to lose by trying it but I don't think it will work - unique xbox key wont change and I think M$ will have this recorded as banned.

I repaired a box that had rrod today.
Flashed it with 1.51 Samsung. Date of Manufacture 05-2006
Plugged in to live and it got banned instantly.
My liteon 1.51 is still going however. Date of manufacture 06-2008
Firmware detected and Mac Address wipeout is my conclusion.

i could do it if someone would take the time to advise me how. maybe a poll like i have seen on some other threads listing drive firmware etc... not the best way but at least it's a start

I certainly aint telling porkys mate.
Its a mac address ban. I think they have always new who is modded etc. Just pick the perfect time of year to ban people.
Marketing and making the PS3 look as if it cant oust the Xbox in the lead up to christmas sales.
Thats business for you.
