There are some tut (and videos) on the web for repairing dead pixels on Dashboard LCD -with hot air etc.

Could you share your experinces.

Save your $19.99!! It really is not possible to repair the dead pixels on a BMW dash in under 1 hour with no special tools or equipment. Most of the tuts give breif instructions on how to partially strip the dash, then to either heat the ribbon cable, or to simply spray it with contact cleaner. These solutions will last all of a few days!!

Hi guys do you all want to know a easy way to fix this and it lasts for ever! Well I will tell you strip dash down so that you can get to the 5 8 torx screws take them out then carefully move back the LCD unit so you can see the stirp remove the silicon strips that press down on the board turn them on there side and put them back in put LCD unit back into place check silicon strips are still in place then refit the 5 screws and carefully tighten now all pixels work it never fails have done hundreds of them perfect hope this helps remember the thanks button cheers

I did a lot of this dashboards. I can say that you will need to take care at the maximum coz you can easy demage dashboard.
For me this job it can take one day working on it.

having spent many years fixing these and all others, the only surefire way is to fit a new screen and cable.

if I remember right, I did about 500 in all, but come to the conclusion that life was far too short to fanny about fixing things, when I could be doing the corrections instead!

Mind you, it took a long time to resist the work, now I say NO THANKS....and I love it! same goes for the saab sid units, the TT clusters etc. God how I dont miss fixing things, got me life back, finish work at 5pm. :party :
