Dear friends, yesterday my BDM100 from china (ebay) did stop working. Now when I push the Usb male plug of the BDM100 cable into any of the 12 Usb 2.0 port of my Asus M/B WinXp says USB to Serial Converter found and the 1255c software don't recognize the version and the serial number '0258' or similar of the BDM100 and it cannot run anymore!

Is that possible to make it work with winols after update.
If you update bdm 100 to 1255c maybe you can not be able to connect it to winols anymore

did you install the new drivers for the 1255 ?
connect your interface -

go to settings/system/hardware/tool management/usb controllers/ find interface > right click > replace driver > go to map with this downloaded software > choose map "drivers" and install new drivers.

(i translated this from Dutch so some words might differ but i hope you understand this....)

Uninstall all FTDI driver from your pc , then search you computer for all the files assosiated with the program in system 32 and deleted it , then restart your pc and reinstall the app

I just bought 2 BDM100. They seems to not working. I applied the 1255c update (2 then 1).

When I start the program, it detect properly the device. However, I always get an error:
Interface Comunication Error
+12Vcc power error or Communication error

I'm trying it on a Bosch MED9.1 ECU. Do I need to use an external power supply on the ECU ?

Are the files size the same as you download from ecu ??

thanx for picture but I was tryiing to read EDC16 and it didn't work so after checking voltage on all pins I did detect that GND is on oposite side so red cable will be on oposite side too... people with chinese clones please check your connection and let me know, thanx!

check your connection, and maybe your bdm need power supply on ECU plug

I did test on another ECU Bosch EDC16 but now with correct orientation and is working! :bounce: (but first ecu is dead) ... so here is correct connection of chinese BDM clones on the picture and DON'T NEED external power supply for ecu ...(power supply for BDM100 is needed)

But indipending EVC or CMD,the SPI pad on ecu is same for all...it depends from ecu producer,not BDM...so you can use manual from evc,which is really great one even if used an CMD or clone BDM

Well, according datasheet those pins belong SCIM2E (single-chip integration module) not to serial communication module, but I am not expert.

After research what is what from two variant of bdm100 interface , one is with one relay and one 4066 switch chip and other is with two relays I use first with one relay and 4066.
Reason is relay is bad thing for switching rx and tx siganals and can case communication error sometime.Mechanic contacts in relay need some short time to stabilize and it is not fast switch device.Other difference in that two version isn't.
Here is picture of mine homemade ( I was need 3h to make it from drawing PCB to finalize).

It is one side board with smd 4066 and FTDI on bottom side and HC11E1CFN2 and relay on top side.Usb cable is soldered direct.Also I added rx and tx led from FTDI to can monitor communication and also one led for 12V DC source on DC connector.The 12V DC present on BDM100 connector via relay is here too.
It work with dimsport and cmd without problem's.

mates, i had that pdf also, and many others, i have all 3 probes wich comes with the china clone, i know the bdm pinout, but i need the configuration of probes for different types of ecu...

for exemple wiki said that all the bosch ecus has the same pinout pad, and i had test it, it works, but for an simens ppd 1.5 for exemple? i know the pin 1, but the rest of the pins? and so one for the rest of the ecus: delphi, marelli, simens sid, simens etc
for each of theme there are probes, i need this ecus pinout pad configuration; diferent size and CONFIGURATIONS !!!!

First at all to we dissemble mystery about famous BDM100 background debagger for MCP555/6 serie of motorola MCU.
Many peoples think about " hove that little thing work ? " .

So simple and I was research it about 5 days but precise.
FTDI232 is simple but fast USB to RS232 converter ( nothing more then RX and TX ). All is in 68HC11E1. The target program is famous dump which must be inside (internal eeprom section of HC11E1) it size is standard 512 bytes.It is modified dump of old motorola BDM project.

How it work and why HC11 ?

HC11 have one beautiful option : "special bootstrap mode".
To put it in that mode you must set MODA and MODB to gnd.Immediately after power on HC11 the RX and TX pins must be short ! HC11 will recognize it own signal from TX pin on self RX and jump to location B600 on internal memory.
After that moment we must break our loop back link and make normal connection of RX and TX pin's ( a couple of mS).
And start to execute next 512 bytes.
And we wait him there HEHEHE there is our BDM100 debugger code ( our famous dump ... ).
The peoples who make that interface are include serial and other thing's for them need's.....
The main part is application on PC.
If HC11 after that trick not find that 512 bytes it will jump to bottom memory locations where is assembled BUFFALO program from Motorola company as default and execute him.....

At moment I work on last family Motorola debugger to translate it for our need's.
P.S. I never love motorola MCU-s but that BDM put me to reasrch that .......sh..t's

That is only technical thing of constructor of PCB.
I have in my BDM separate power for relay from BDM power supply via 78L05 to remove chance for USB damage when relay is energized ( in that moment on relay can be induced very big voltage and maybe damage USB port).Also I have a couple clamp diodes and more modification my personal....

You have big difference inside clone maker.I am electronic engineer ( and have a lot of knowledge about what an how work and more... ) and you have peoples who just copy paste project's but never get how it work.

Did you sometime research some interface in all aspect ?
I like to make hardware for my usage and copy all that things
but always only get idea's and maybe software which is hard Analise ...

Just noticed with the bdm when opened, pin one is in the right place it's the ribbon cable connector around the wrong way so mine is red line to toward pin 10.

Download again it is here somewhere on DK just use search...
And I give you one advice :
On computer where you use cracked program's you must first prepare antivirus to skip that type of check - but is hard for most of antivirus programs...
But better solution is you get one PC or second boot partition without antivirus and all will go extra .

before install i deactivate antivirus and after installing i reactivate and when i use the soft i click ignore for antivirus avertissement, but you must change options in your antivirus: dont check delete suspected files but check ask me for action to do when file is suspected option

i have manuel CMD official but i can't upload it, if you know where i can upload it, say me

so the first dme im going to hook up is a bosch dme, i have a cmd 1255 clone do i need to swap the pins or is this clone already setup with proper pinout for a bosch? looking at the second image you posted they just toss the adapter cable right on there.

Also a bit worried that cable might backwards

the picture above is for the optican bdm, use the cmd manual, in there you will find all that you need for bosch ecus, just put the cable adapter from bdm pinout to the ecu pads, 1-1,2-2...etc
be carefull, if you dont have the corect plug in the bdm you can damage the ecu, just to be sure you can test the bdm pcb, just to see if your vcc and vss are where it should be, i had one clone with 2 pins switched...

ps: test your conection--> gnd ecu=gnd bdm

Whats the best way to test it, when i pulled out my multimeter and hooked up usb cable i saw gnd on multiple pins? which pins did you have switched?

P.S. when i opened it saw UIF Tech written on board

you can simply teste it with a multimeter, directly on the pcb, just the 2 (-) and 2 (+), on conect...the pinout you can find it on the bdm manual. if they are ok then you can use it on the ecu ....
for me the last test i make, with the bdm conected to the ecu, check: gnd ecu = gnd bdm (adaptor or usb).... if this is ok and the pinout of the bdm is as it is in the manual, then you cant go wrong...

Simple way to find pinout on your short cable is:
- plug your cable to bdm (remove usb, power)
- take multimeter and put it on GND on dc power and go pin by pin on your cable. When you find it is very clearly looking in pics posted before me.

I did test on another ECU Bosch EDC16 but now with correct orientation and is working! :bounce: (but first ecu is dead) ... so here is correct connection of chinese BDM clones on the picture and DON'T NEED external power supply for ecu ...(power supply for BDM100 is needed)

You can't full test if is not plug to ECU....
Just plug all and ECU EDC16, hit ON.
If all is OK it will start to communicate with ECU and that is all , you will have full opened button's and can read and write to EDC16.

I just verified that my pins are also the same by testing the ground to the dc power ground.

I don't want to fry anything.

Pretty sure mine is the CMD clone, but their manual show a different connection for the EDC16 than the one I downloaded from here:

but i have another problem (see picture)
i connected to the ecu like it shows in the cmd bdm100 manual.
i have external 12V power on bdm100 interface.
also tried to give power to the ecu (ME9.1)
always same fault.
anyone can help?

Hi, I attached 100% working BDM update. I have BDM working with CMD 1255 SW. Yesterday I tried it with Dimsport software and after that it stopped working with CMD - I saw error about too old software. So I ran 2.exe then 1.exe from archive I attached and it works perfectly again with CMD 1255.
