OLD:

Revoloution Software (the company that made Broken sword) have released their first game Lure of the Temptress (http://www.revolution.co.uk/_display.php?id=10) as freeware now.

They also made Beneath a Steel Sky which is also freeware on ScummVM here: ScummVM :: Downloads (http://www.scummvm.org/downloads/#extras)
Its my favorite point and click by miles, even better than broken sword imho.

Theres also Monkey island games to play with, these where golden when they got released from Lucas Arts and still hold their own to this day. Maniac Mansion is also worth a playthrough.

Humour wise you cant get much better than Discworld (for my money its Discworld 2) It can be fairly difficult to wrap your head around if your not familiar with the books, although its worth while even if your unaware of the entire world of discworld.

Theres also leisure Suit Larry for funny bordering on ~~~~o (in as much as you could term poorly rendered 16bit sprites as ~~~~)

For more serious play then theres Zero Critical by Bethesda (people who made Oblivion and Fallout 3) its pretty good, if a little short.

Sanitarium by ASC is also awesome, if a little dark psychological thriller, well worth checking out.

Newer stuffs.
Sadly if your not "shootan terroristz" or "playan tekkanz" then your in a niche market and therefore studios will largely ignore you as theres not stacks of money to be made.

That being said there are still some new titles made in this dying genre.

Machinarium has been the latest, its pretty solid fare and entirely worth BUYING Machinarium (http://machinarium.net/demo/) ?12.50 is entirely worth it, as youll see after playing the demo.

The White Chamber was released in 2005 for free via bittorent, its like 300mb and its fun, id definately give that a checking out.

Overclocked : A history of Violence was released last year, its story is rock solid, characters are well thought out and i loved it, its a psychological horror though so it might not be in your vein, but like i said since the graphic adventure boom of the 90s the genre has died off to a large extent.

Syberia was released in 2001? 2? cant remember, this was also fun, part 2 moreso and theres a conclusion planned circa 2010 to wrap things up, its story is fairly good and its worth a play through.

Other than those, ive got no real idea, like i said new games in this genre are a rarity, there are plenty of older titles of which ive just listed notable highlights, theres plenty of really bad ones to wade through to find ones that are really good.

Definately check out discworld 2, beneath a steel sky and the older monkey island games and i guarantee you wont be dissapointed.

Hitch-hikers in the zenith of text based adventures, quite possibly the best game ever made. No pretty pictures but wit and intelligence required. DNA/Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy Infocom Adventure (http://www.douglasadams.com/creations/infocom.php) it is genius but you'll need to do more than point and click. If you aren't quite up to it then monkey island is the alternative (not so much the new versions though they are ok)
