Reliable clone to r/w EDC17CP14

Just trying to read off my car via OBD with Kess 5.017 (red PCB) and it’s giving me an error saying its an unknown ECU weather I choose CAN or KLINE. After I have cycled the power, it gives a wake up error.

Don’t want to pull the ECU really.

It’s recently been remapped with genuine tool, so was hoping there was no tprot, etc.

I’ve got FGTech too, but not used it yet...

Can anyone help me?

Try on different VW Model on EDC17C14
Make sure you’re using the Right protocol same engine Code bhp ect

Is there nothing that will do this by OBD at all? Don’t mind spending a bit, but can’t justify buying a Genuine new tool at thousands just for the odd tweak to my own car!

Well, Genuine tool must be able to do it, as it was only mapped the other day by a Garage - he did a stage one, and I watched the last few minutes of the procedure and he was plugged into OBD.

I wasn’t gone long enough for him to rip the ECU out :-)

Ok.. so what does this mean?

Can it be done?

I’m really trying to stay away from taking the lid off the ECU as had issues in the past with water ingress in the ECU box!

Are there other ways?

Seal the lid correctly and you'll be fine but dont use silicone sealant with acetone as it corrode's pcb's

Pay tuner stage 2........much cheaper than tool or locksmith and replacement ECU ;)

But how does that fix being able to write back to the ECU if tprot is on?

because they calculate all checksums and rsa and cvn and whatever else the ecu checks, to APPEAR like an original file.

agree. no id=shitty tool.

anyway, it's not the best ecu to mess with, some clone have issues even in boot mode.
if it's just been tuned just leave it!! if you are not happy go back to the tuner.

I think It was on Q7 which sometimes with two ECUs

So, used the new 2.47 K-Suite and now it will ID the ECU...

BUT... There's no option to READ ECU, just ID, Write or Recovery.. Any ideas?

as they already told you, this is only VR!
a genuine tool will download the file from the Server, a non genuine is useless, unless someone gets the file for you.

of course without actually reading your ecu you will lose your tune.

Appreciate everyone’s input here! I’ll be pulling the ECU out this weekend and getting KTag or FG to read it, and the tuner has agreed to send me the Ori, too!
