which (if any) gemini images are recommended for a dm600pvr? had a dm600 (clone) for a few weeks now and using a nabilo image at present due to flashing problems with some alternatives and issues with cable.xml files etc. on others. wary of "bricking" the box so stayed away from gemini till now. have found gemini images OK on cable dm500 & dm800 boxes (both genuine) giving best epg perormance. assume loading problems with dm600 have been due to bootloader issues - any advise on finding which loader i have ( and how to update it if necessary) would also be appreciated?

Everyone shys away from the Gemini images although there are a couple which are supposed to be 'bomb free'. If not many people use the Gemini image then you won't find anyone recommending an image. You need to copy the cables.xml file to var/etc folder on your box after flashing an image onto your dm600 this applies to whichever image you flash to your dreambox. I used the Gemini in the past but I have found the Pli images to be much more UK friendly and as far as the EPG are concerned they are definitely better especially as you can configure a longer EPG. I have an original dm600 and the boot loader on it is 57 but as far I can tell it has never made any difference to my box except if I want to use the latest Barry Allen plugin. I have found that the boot loader seems to be dependant on the image you use on your box .

thanks curious123 for your reply. my (clone box)has bootloader 53 according to the web interface - which seems a bit odd as i only bought it a month or so ago? i'm assuming this is why it seems very "picky" about which images it will run? it runs ok with gemini 4.1, but i have now changed to a nabilo darlkstar 11 image which so far seems ok. another problem i have is updating the cable.xml file as although i can generally ftp other files across with dcc.296 the cable file refuses to transfer? any idea why this should be - i dont get the chance to alter the attributes as never get that far.

I maybe wrong but the last time I checked the boot loader on my original dm600C it said it was 57 though I am not what it is on my clone dm600S. i have never had any problems with any image on either of my boxes. I use a free program called CoreFtp for transferring files from pc to dreambox and vice versa.
