Hi,ALL I havea DM500 from which I have accidentaly erased the Gemini 4.20 image.I have downloaded the image as well as Dreamup from this site. However I can't open the Gemini img. file.Do I need to open it to flash the box or just drag and drop it into dreamup and flash it from there.
Thanks in advance.

The .img file is the image, you don't need to extract it any further.

Use dreamup to select the file after you press Flash.

....and these are the steps you need to follow....

Disconnect the Dreambox from the Mains Supply
Attach a Null Modem Cable between PC and DB
Open DreamUp
The Use Network facility may be chosen or disregarded simply by ticking/unticking
the appropriate box. By enabling it, you will slightly speed up the Flashing Process.
Personally, I leave it Unticked.
Click Connect
Switch on the DB
Click Flash Erase
Click Ja
When Flash Erase is ready, Click Flash and navigate to the Image File which you wish to Flash
Click Open
Click Ja
This will be your last click until the whole process is ready?so just wait and let the PC and DB do the job themselves
When ready, just Click OK and exit from Dreamup.
Disconnect the DB from the Mains Supply
Re-connect the Mains Supply
Wait for the DB to reboot to the newly installed Image and set it up.

If you are only using a null modem cable and not an ethernet cable, then you need to leave the 'use network' box unticked. If you tick it, it won't transfer the image.

Thanks guys.I have just realised I've got no port for the null modem cable on my Dell PC,so can I use the ethernet cable instead to flash?

Sure you can! :)

You need to be able to ftp to the box from your PC.

Dreambox Guides, Tutorials, Tips and Hints Blog Archive How to Connect your Dreambox to your PC (http://www.dreamboxtips.com/how-to-connect-your-dreambox-to-your-pc/)

Then you can copy the img file to box with an FTP client like FlashFXP (http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/downloads/other/8/flashfxp-v3-0-2-84/) or CuteFTP.

Use telnet commands to flash the new image.

http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/f34/guide-flash-backup-image-via-telnet-760/

You can also use Flash Wizard Pro (http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/downloads/other/8/flashwizard-pro-6-3-200/)but I wouldn't recommend it. It has a tendancy to hang up during flashing and then you NEED to use dreamup and a null modem cable to bring it back from the dead.

You can also get a USB to Serial adapter from ebay for a few quid, that should work ok.

Thanks all, I managed to borrow a friends PC and flashed the Box.All OK.However previously I was connected to a server and I had Eurobird Astra 28.2e but at the moment I've only got Astra 19.2e.Do I need to install any plugins or something to have 28.2e on my box.
Thanks.

If you're going through your router, make sure you have the router ip address in the default gateway section of the network settings page on your dreambox.

What is the ip address of your PC, dreambox and router?

It might be better selecting DHCP on the dreambox then rebooting it. Then go into the network settings page and see what ip address the router has given it. Use that in flashfxp to connect to it.
