Hi DK.

I'm a Noob when it comes to ECU's, but I really like to learn it, so please see through some of the more stupid question that I for sure gonna ask :)

I'm doing an engine swap, VW R32 from a golf mk5 into a VW Golf mk1. I have a complete engine with ECU harness and i fitted a OBD plug with K-line. First thing I wanted to fix was the Immo, I don't need and I want to delete it for good.

The ECU is a Bosch ME7.1.1 022 906 032 CE with a 95160 immo chip inside. I tried to read the EEPRom with Vag commander 2.5 but I couldn't.

Is there anyone that succesfully have readed the EEPROM from that type of ECU, or does anyone have any good ideas how to do it ?

Thanks

You need to desolder the 95040 i think it is off the top off my head off the actual ECU

Put it into a serial programmer like minipro or willems, read the eeprom and if you dont know how to do this then post the eeprom on here and someone will be able to help. :)

Thank you for the input. The EEPROM is a 95160, dont know if that makes any difference.. ?

ecu golf4 has a different eeprom
ecu golf5 has a different eeprom

I have the engine from a golf 5, but does this needs to be desoldered for immo off ?

My bad i just seen ME7.1.1 and assumed it was the same as the mk4 setups as i dont deal with the petrol ecus as much i wasnt aware the mk5 retained the older style ecu and plug as most the others use EDC16 etc in the diesels, my apologies.

No Worries Brayson...

I actually hoped that is was possible to read the EEPROM without desolder it :/ As I said I'm a newbie on this area, so I think a job like Desolder the Eeprom is i bit to risky for me :)

Anyone in Europe that has experience with ME7.1.1

I have done mk4 7.1.1 before and it will probably be similar, taking the chip off the board is going to be the best bet mate.

Me7 eeprom can be read with kkl cable in bootmode.

Sure? Cause I tried that already... Do you have a source to a program that can help me? I have the kkl cable..

It is a Cmdline based program me7_eeprom.exe or something like that.

Yeah, that one doesn't work with my ECU. Mine is a never version with the ST10 chip and 95160 EEPROM and the ME7_EEPROM.exe cannot connect to it.

Then desolder and read with cheap programmer.
