Hi!
I am looking for good and stable battery charger for ECUs Flashing.

Till now i am using a standard 50A 12V/24V Battery charger (600A while starting Car)
but its not eleectronical charger and it does not give stable Voltage on output.
I need sth that will make stable Voltage on output and will have minimum 50A (BMW F series flashing).

What are you using while flashing?

I have found GYSFLASH charger but whant to know what you are using and what is worth buing?
Any other producer then Gysflash?

Thank in advance
Kuba

sometimes I use a "maintenance" charger that stabilizes the current 13v is not suitable for charging empty batteries

I use Maas sps 50 power suply, no need to unplug anything in car. Also has adjustable voltage etc.

Don't looking battery charger. You need external power supply with at least 13.8 V or more to 14.5 V. And ampere at least 50A or more.

@heteromines but for flashing ecus on table i have external agm battery. But i want sth to flash cars via obd like BMW F and G series that need stable Voltage and have big Ampers consumption on Ignition

Yes, you need power supply for sure, not charger. BMW car's use a lot ampere when ignition on. You need about 80A/14V at least.

Search what different charger vs power supply, i hope you understand why need power supply!!!!

80A ? which Bmw need 80A, maybe without batery.... 3 days ago I write CAT OFF in M5 F10 2012y, 45A this is max what she need when pump works, when pump not work 20-25A but never 50A.

why so many ampere? something like this wont be enough? https://www.conrad.at/de/velleman-labps3005dn-labornetzgeraet-einstellbar-0-30-vdc-0-5-a-150-w-anzahl-ausgaenge-1-x-94001.html

why so many ampere?

If engine ecu decides to bring cooling fan on, instants 30 amp draw, resulting in voltage dipping below 12 and bricking ecu

some ecu on some tractor draws 9 amps doing nothing

Hi,

why so many ampere? something like this wont be enough? https://www.conrad.at/de/velleman-labps3005dn-labornetzgeraet-einstellbar-0-30-vdc-0-5-a-150-w-anzahl-ausgaenge-1-x-94001.html

Let me tell you i do reprogram ECUs every day at work using the Gysflash 50.12 and when i connect it to the car in showroom mode regulated to 13V , car sucks about 50Amps first. When reprograming begins it sucks about 30Amps if fan runs, if not it sucks about 15Amps.
Another low cost solution i thought on many times is buying a VELIKA power supply 13,8V 1000W for... 70€, but it would be only a power supply, not charger like Gysflash. This solution needs to buy good wires and battery clamps: cost will up to 50€ more.

Im having problems with my boot adapter (KESS cone),power supply adaptor gives 12.3V ,but on the cable im getting 0.25V .anyone had that problem?567682567684567685
EDIT:Has anyone checked his boot adapter,i think mine is not good???

caja88 Labratory would not be enought even for some ecus like SID208 on Ford transit. Ecu on table need 15A on start. So i had to use agm battery.
Only 5A from Labratory power supply was not enought.

And we are talking about charger/power supply connected to vehicle battery. I bought Telwin Doctor Charge 50 and i hope that 50A will be enpught to most of cars.

EDIT: now i have seen your last posts, I have an ori Ktag and even ori Ktag Power supply adapter is not good. Ita makes max 5A. I have also Magpro x17 ori supply and i use it, when i connect Ktag.

Its strange that Even Alientech cannot give a good power supply from 230AC to 14DC. And you have to use external battery for some ecus.

so the safest way for bench, external battery with charger?

kubuswujo
28th October, 2018, 02:36 PM
Yes, I use a battery like this, its a small 12v AGM Motorcykle battery:
567701
567701
But i use it only for ecus that need more Ampere. For 90% of ecus to do on table, Ori or clone AC/DC adapter is enought.

caja88

may i ask which ecus need more ampere? I need to learn...very much as i see:star:

10a for bench is good enough
50a for obd is recommended but on some cars you still need to disconnect fans (DON`T FORGET TO RECONNECT THEM)

I continue the topic, because I want buy telwin doctor charge 50 because it is low cost, it is safe for Fxx series?, and for other cars? can it really provide 13.5/14v and 45/50A?

someone said, disconnect the fan for more security? Maybe if you disconnect the fan, you can crash the obd flash, because you will flash the car with DTC ?

It is safe to disconnect fan or you can have problem during flash because of that ?

Disconnect them when possible I did an S6 recently and it started writing the files and fans kicked in and maxxed my psu out at 50a and stopped it writing until I disconnected them luckily no problems this time

If you have to go to a parking lot get a 150amp alternator off something
go steal a cement mixer engine, make one, only on 20 mins or so, not like going to be running hours on end

And if you use a second battery ?

doctorcharge on second battery, and second battery on the car's battery with cables?

You should have more Amper ?

I understand the princip of Volts on cars but Amper is mystérious for me.

Yes it is safe, i have the 130 version with 10m cables and wall bracket.
Max amps i ever see was 48A on an New Audi A3 8V when the fan kicks in. But very stable

I will see, maybe it's possible I buy gysflash 100-12 rather than doctorcharge50.
It's safer.
