Hi everyone, im posting here because can't get any help anywhere else :
I tried to write back to original state my audi wich was tuned stage 1
Bought a kessV2 and Ktag china clone.
I read and write 2 times perfectly with kess but without 12v stabilization..
Then i tried full backup with clone KTAG, no more communication at all..
When i put back on the car nothing happens no more ID, no more comm with vcds !

Is there any thing to do or tc1766 is dead ??

By the way, as the car is stuck now for 4 months, i've been looking everydays for an exact same ecu, bingo just received mine from.. UK !! :)
How can i adapt perfectly without original backup ? Immo off ? What are the differents steps ?

Thanks a lot to any one helping me in this trouble.
Ben

hi, flash read by OBD is NOT SAME with BDM.....Do you have a buckup read with ktag?

Hi friends i know the difference thanks for the trick
I got original and stage 1 odb read
But when i tried full backup with ktag cpu died or maybe before due to the china kess or 2-3 writes whiout 12v stab..
Rhat i bought an EXACT same ecu even didnt need to long code with vcds immo off and plug and play !

i got ktag full backup of this one ! (wich exact same)

Is there any way to come back to life my old ecu that looks perfect..
thanks for all

ps: devil it is a 160ps CDAA

Swap EEPROM from old ECU to NEW ---> maybe this solve your problem
EEPROM have 8 leg´s, desolder EEPROM when you read and write to NEW ECU

Hi mate, no eeprom in the infineon tricore tc1766
The eeprom is INSIDE cpu

I only want to know twi things :

- Is that ECU Fixable ? (by tricore reballing or anything else/will it work with a full backup ?)

- Is the Kess or the Ktag clone dangerous to use (burnt ecu) Is it possible clone damage anything by obd ?? Is it the clone fault or impossible ?

Thanks for all

Did I understand correctly that you tried to restore the Original file read by KESS but used Ktag for it?

Other than that, MED17.5 most likely has tuning protection. Any attempt to write by OBD2 will brick the ECU. I did one a few days ago and it can safely be done on the bench only.

Hi filiprow, and thanks for you help : I repeat : I dont not (and never did) mix ktag and kess files..

Then your 100% right about the tuning protection, iv read the datasheet of the micro, they are talking about it.
How do you know if tuning prot is active or inactive ?
Why iv got possibility on the kess software to read/write by odb so ?

How is it possible then that a big tuning center wrote a stage1 by obd without opening the ecu (using a cmd flash and not a kessv2) no problem then
So my clone ktag/kess are absolutly safe to use ?? How do i know if this car or this ecu is dangerous to write by obd thanks a lot for any help

Hi

Just a little disclaimer, I use clones that have been reworked by a reputable member. Whether or not the issue was caused by your Chinese clone, I would have it reworked because it's a gamble to work like that.

If you search the Chip Tuning section of the forum you'll find Tuning Protection is a thing introduced to some VW ECU round 2009. Reading by obd won't kill the ecu but writing to it will. Tuning protection can be disabled after you read the ecu on the bench, there is a topic on that here in DK.

Anyway, if we assume the tuning shop worked fully obd2 and all was well then there was no factory tuning protection. You say you read/wrote successfully(?) twice by obd2. Problem started once you tried KTag so I'd be checking your

1 PCB for physical damage Med 17 will literally crack if opened incorrectly.
2. Pinout + soldering.

Last thing, in your original post you say "I read and write 2 times with Kess perfectly". Why did you do it TWICE if all worked well? Why did you decide to make a backup with KTag, fun or practice?

Hi thanks for your answer, please let me know by MP the name of this reputable member
Ive read this : https://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/showthread.php/470321-Kess-V2-Harware-Rework-FREE-SOLUTION!

Please give me the link of the thread talking about wich ECU got TPROT or not, can't find anything..

Iv'e read most of the datasheet of the SAK-tc1766 infineon, talking about registory monitoring, i'm actually sure that there is anyway to reset the mcu or put it in order back again..

THING TO KNOW : The car had an engine problem, ((thixed now, by a new ecu and immo off, it was the High Pressure gas pump was dead.)) The car won't start BEFORE trying anything on the ecu, i had already renew low-pressure pump, and 4 injectors.

Then :

I wrote 3 times by odb KESS :
1) Original file = Car didn't start better
2) Write again St1 "to see" = not better
3) Third time i wrote, i got all engine lights abs, airbag, steeringwheel, tmps, sounds, Xmas three..) = With a problem in Ksuite message = write ok, TOOL LOCKED, contact assistance..

Then i tried a backup to clone the ecu whith KTAG

My car is now working but i only want to understand what happened and if it is dangerous to work with my tools

I also got a intake air manifold problem since iv switch ecu : p2004 and p2015 stuck in open position
Adaptation with VCDS = without succes, adapt error our blocked

Im sure ive not damaged while opening, and pinout, was OK, ive did and DPFOFF on an EDC17 without problems before all this

A quick search returned that there are tools that can bypass Tprot. I think CMD would be one of them. It also looks like none of your Kess attempts were successful hmmm...In which case I'd say that you triggered the protection.

I am inclined to believe the ECU is bricked and your best guess would be to post your ECU details + problem description in the Chip Tuning section. Those guys know their stuff and maybe someone will be able to bring it back to life.

I'll send you the details of the rework master in the PM later on.

just a thought on your air problems i had similar flap stuck open on a frv honda diesel turned out to be the vacuum pump faulty i would check your hoses for leaks or kinks:)

Thanks for your idea mate, may be possible, as the high pressure died and very close to what your talking
But i think more about a sowftware problem as the DTC where note here before with old ecu
and started ASAP as i connected new one ( exact same numbers but immo off)
