if it's lost key then you have to take dash out to put it into service mode.

apparently the new VAG OBD Helper Tool should be able to assist in completing the job without removing the dash, but i don't have that tool so can't comment

1)You can do only when it is 1.4TSI non UDS ecu read via obd2 or when edc17/med17 by direct CAN connection(only SMOK or AVDI) and do all key lost procedure(which permanently change CS data, dealer keys want work anymore).
2)When you have a lot of luck and its MM dash you can do fully obd2.
3)Obd vag helper when it works(no one confirmed yet).

Dash out with SMOK or Supervag is 3min job. On 70% cases you don't need to take out back cover even. With VVDI should be possible too but it will take much longer. PM me for info.

pretty sure that is with working key.

Just take dash out mate, easy job to do, steps below for carprog but you can use steps 1-6 for VVDI2 too:

1. Remove dashboard from car and read it's eeprom 24C32 or 24C64 manualy
2. Save this eeprom dump to have backup
3. Fill eeprom dump :
[VAG with NEC MCU + 24C32 inside] - range 0xCA0 - 0xEDF in hex editor with FF FF ..
[VAG with NEC MCU + 24C64 inside] - range 0x13A0 - 0x1450 in hex editor with FF FF ..
4. Write this damaged dump to eeprom
5. Put dashboard back to car and connect via DIAG now
6. Load your saved backup (original eeprom) and press write
7. After write completed you can read PIN repair km etc..

also make a backup of ABS coding just in case.

Autel are better than AVDI in VAG and soon in all other brands. Avdi can be closing the business. No one is going to pay for AVDI's expensive tools when you have Aurodiag for 20% of what AVDI costs

VVDI can do it as well the only thing stopping me going ahead with is the ABS coding it’s a nightmare mind you when I get home to night I will have a good read how to programme ABS.

Take off ABS plug or read ABS coding before you do it.

Real works and when something dont work, you send the datalog and they works for resolved the problem. Have good support.

Just be aware that its gone come with a subscription each year. First year included, when buying the tool. I think its gone be quite high. When you know who is behind this tool. They charge quite high amounts of their clean OBD tool.
Which have nothing to do with keys.
The 50 engineers don't work for peanuts. They work for money. So people will need to pay for this. Of course they will probably do the same as the K518 team did. Sell a lot of products first. And when they feel like they have a good tool.
They will start the process of subscription.
I also read something about free updates. I think it was from the US exhibitions. But then again, I also get the info that it is gone cost money after the first year. Which is more likely.
