Is the OE Car ECU programmable

I am a complete newbie around here!
I need to know whether my 2007 Suzuki SX4 ECU can be reprogrammed using the computer.

What are the things I need to equip myself with, before starting off on such a project?

You will need a good ori flasher like kess, flashtec, byteshooter, cmd etc, or you can use a bdm interface
