Having a bit of a thick day today

I haven't flashed my 600 for ages and i am going to put on the jade image and 14 day epg.

There is a real simple way to flash via ftp - but i can't remember it.

Currently using dream up and null modem via usb interface. So slowwwwwwwww

My old pli image can set the box up for flashing - which i did

I presume i would ftp in again with usual flash fxp settings for box - but it would not connect, it was doing before as i transfered the files i wished to back up.

Hope someone can understand this as i know you can flash the box in minutes via lan - just i have got a memory blank

Also do you just rename .nfi images to .img if you want to use flash wizard pro

Cheers

Hi, I am trying to do the same thing. I have found various instructions the most popular way seems to be erasing the flash by powering on with the standby button held. But my box doesn't seem to want to erase the flash this way.

Does anybody have any ideas what is wrong?

Thanks,
Ian

Slightly different to other dreamboxes. You can either use the Dreamup software (takes ages) or use the method below instead.

1. Boot the box, goto the communication menu and note the ip address.

2. Run DCC, connect to the dreambox. Once the network is connected ok, click on the the 'Telnet' option.

3. In the telnet window, type the following, pressing <return> at the end of each line.

mount /boot -o remount,rw
rm /boot/*
reboot

4. You should now get a message saying that the Dreambox is rebooting.

5. Wait a few seconds and then run Explorer (Firefox or whatever) and enter the ip address of the Dreambox in the address bar.

6. On the screen that appears, choose the 'Upgrade firmware' option, find the .nfi file and click the 'Flash' button.

7. Once the progress bar reaches 100%, reboot the box
