Hello,

The original cluster is from 2004 and is kind of fried(someone did modifications do it previously). Anyway i have a new cluster from 2005.
I would like to transfer over vin code and mileage, so best bet probably would be to "virginize" the new cluster and reset eeprom and mileage to FF / 00. Or i could just swap out 35080 EEPROM no problems?
I have R270+.
Basically the old chip is 35080-6 and the new is 35080V6.
Are the chips interchangeable between versions? I would like to try to test out my R270+ if it can erase 35080-V6 incremental area but i was thinking if it fails i could just transfer 35080V6 virginized dump to 35080-6 and solder that in and it would probably work okay in the new cluster which had 35080V6 previously?

Also could someone point me to the VIN area i would need to delete/modify in the "new" cluster dump so the car would accept new vin over OBD?

Thanks.

I tried swapping chips around but when i put the 35080-6 from old 2004 cluster inside 2005 cluster inplace of 35080-v6 and "bench" test it with giving power to pin 9 and ground to pin 18 and pressing the "test" button -> The results are blank screen, the backlight comes up and everything but no data. I can see the correct mileage if i look at it from a certain upwards angle but thats it.
Both eeproms show mileage okay inside the old instrument cluster. I tried writing the 35080-6 with 2005 eeprom data and soldering it in showed correct mileage.
I tried 3 times -> same results.
At this point i'm at a loss and the only way i can see this happening is by using new instrument clusters dump with 35080-6 and writing new VIN inside it... But where is the vin inside the dump/what sections would i need to replace?
