Hi there,

Hi there,

I have an A class with no power on dashboard and after I have run diagnostics it come up with error EZS – Electronic Ignition lock (N73)
B225464 The electronic steering lock has a malfunction. There is an implausible signal.

It seems they tried to jump start the car with the ignition key in, and this has damaged the communication between the ignition key and the electronic steering lock.

I have now a second hand steering lock same model but it needs to be re-programmed between EIS and Ignition key.

Does anybody knows if a second hand electronic steering lock can be re-programmed to the car original one? How to do it and does anybody knows who can do it?

Thanks

For this procedur you need Special Tools for Mercedes
VVDI MB
CGDI MB
SIMON TOUCH
.....

BUT !!!
WHich Year your Car?
When Car have FBS4 System you cant do nothing ---> Only Dealer
I dont know it will work when you programming EIS with older FBS3 System on Car

Thanks for your reply.
Car is 2013 and the electronic steering lock number is A 099 900 04 00
I think it is FBS3 but not sure. Where can I check it?
Assuming it is FBS3 do you know anybody who can program it? I have bought a second hand steering lock exactly the same model so I am hoping it could be recoded.

Thanks for helping out.

You have FBS3 EIS
If you going to program used steering lock (ELV)
you need to virginize the used elv and ignition switch (EIS)
then you be able to synchronize EIS with ELV,
or you can get elv emulator and will also do the job to.
But you need to have the special tools for MB key programming
to do this job - busch 8688 mention that
There is another option , buy brand new and program with Xentry ,but you need to have access online and login to MB

regards.

Thanks Magneto21

I have been told that these MB tools do not work on A Class W176 or W246 which uses the same ESL with FBS3.

Do you know any one who has done it on W176 or W246 already that I could get in touch? I am based in UK but could post it if need be.

Many thanks

Also where can I get an emulator for this type of ESL?

Thanks Magneto21
I have done some research today and found them as well. I have been in touch and it looks like they are able to do it for W176 so should have some feedback in a couple of weeks.

Thanks

Hello all
I am new in forum but old at Mercedes prog.
I have the same problem with the same error codes. I have original abrites. I replace (ezs) and esl (elv) together as a set. still the same pre-emptiness remains. I suspect problem in sam? voltage ok to elv. can anyone help?

Hi MB Jam

I had the same problem and could not recode another EZS. At the end I had to go for an emulator and still very difficult to get the handshake from the EIS. I worked with a garage in London who specialised in MB and they were great. The car now starts and runs as it should. They are called London Code. They did a great job and even though they had to try several time, at the end they managed to get it done. http://www.londoncode.uk/

Hi, I need help ELV A0999000400 or A0999000400 FBS4 W176 /2013

I would like to make the connection ELV on bench with 5 pin connector

my doubt is pin 1 connects with SAM and pin 3 connects with SRS.

does anyone know what signal has pin 1 and pin 3?

I know that pin 2 is the EZS signal.
pin 4 + 12v
pin 5 - 12v

thanks

hallo
who can tell me where the memory is or is? what's the name of this part? can I just unsolder the part and solder it in another ELV?
or what's going on with a broken ELV! the motor is not, relay, switches are not defective!
would be nice if someone can help me there.
Many thanks in advance

Hi. you have to see the signal from pin 1 and 3, these are SAM and SRS signals.
