EIS slow to release

I have an EIS from an early W202 that has an EIS issue.
The EIS takes approx 1 to 2 seconds to unlock once the key in inserted (the EIS clicks and then it can be turned)
The ESL unlocks straight away.

Anybody know what the fix is for this?

It even happens on the bench with 13.8v direct to it.
Its like the solenoid that activates is slowing down or has some sort of friction.

make new key for test

Use the active key with password function.

With ESL simulator powered up on a bench, with a new key.
I have seen this a few times on old mercs.
