Hello,
I tried to read EIS (Mercedes W164 2006 model ML350) with AVDI (abrites) on bench. I could not. They told me that I need a gateway to read the EIS of this model on bench. Why do I need a gateway on W164 and not on W204? Is lt because ZGW ( Zentrales Gateway) and Body Control Modules are separate in this specific model?

Thank you

Hi.
W164 EIS use low speed CAN (83,3 Kb/c), but standart diagnostic use high speed CAN (500 Kb/c)

Other MB models use higher speed CAN, that is why we do not need gateway to read their EIS on bench?

Yes, you are right.

Depends on the tool used. Some can poll the EIS directly, in an effort to determine comm speed used.
