Does anyone use the VAG Tacho Fiat upgrade?

Is it a good job and what’s coverage like ?

Thanks in advance 👍🏻

the tool is no long been released do you know you also need to alter your vag tacho to work with this for fiat .

Yes seen that the OBD connector needs modifications done but package is cheap and if it has a decent coverage and if as stable as Vag Tacho might be worth it.

Not very much info online what it does or how good it is

once adapted it looks like it works on the delphi models , so fiat 500 , grand punto , punto evo , doblo , fiorino , qubo , alfa romeo mito , ford KA , Vauxhall combo D , peugeot bipper and citroen nemo models , if not had update to cable then like truecode a tool like tmpro 2 with the correct delphi licence will be needed.
avdi does this for me and has never missed , i have truecode , smart pro as back ups on fiat so not sure if il add this to my vag tacho as well , but pays to always have more than 1 option so never say never

Hi Rapid

Just like the idea of token free option and it’s not an expensive upgrade so from my point of view probably worth having and if it works as good as it claims be useful bit of kit to have 🤔

vag tacho has always been good kit that works on what it claims to work on . i dont doubt it will be reliable . more fiat coverage of course is available with other tools like abrites , smart pro , zedfull , even tdb1000 now , truecode as long as you have tmpro and relevent licences and of course lonsdor making inroads on it too .

need to weigh up if happy with just delphi coverage for the upgrade costs , or if better buying something that includes the marelli models like 500L , ducato , lancia delta , bravo , peugeot boxer and citroen relay models as well as the older model coverage .

spending a little more to get more coverage for some pays back quicker and works out cheaper long term , just depends on budget and payback potential . i do alot of fiat based vehicles so avdi fiat paid back for me very quickly and has been in profit for a long while now , so worked out for me to be the most prudent purchase despite being the expensive option .

Trying to get my head around Fiat and precoding. As far as I can make out TDB1000 will not precode the key. Early stages of research on Fiat so a lot to learn

with tcb1000 in order to precode the chip or remote you also need their tdb500 cloner , they claim you can then do full job.

the vag tacho option will work well as with all they do , but it is currently restricted to delphi models , theres still so much coverage missing , ducato and all the varients on this chassis and the rest of the marreli based models , the older pre 2006 models and not all kit can do the later models .
for me its about maximum coverage , abrites fiat does most seamlessly but at a price , tdb1000 with fiat licence and their tdb500 cloner offers delphi and marreli , truecode will do all these but you need a tool like tmpro with the relevent licences to precode remotes or tango to precode chips , but by the time you buy the software , hardware and the additional licences you start approaching the cost of abrites. if you dont see many of these then delphi is a good place to start , but again by the time you buy the add ons it can be dear , smart pro can do alot of these very quickley if you have smart ariel , but those damn tokens hurt , zedfull does most but again painful tokens , but not paindull if on utp and you get enough cars to make utp pay .

you buy what fits your budget , and get max coverage you can for what you can afford to spend , and hope to get payback before the chinese fully crack it and the messers are doing fiat flips for £40

Hi Rapid

Thanks for info the TDB 1000 and 500 is starting to look like the option I might take at least if I buy the 500 it’ll open up additional cloning makes and models.

Have the smart aerial for the MVP but due to tokens it would be used if I was only really stuck on a job and all else fails.

the mvp tokens can be painfull as takes 2 of them , 1 for the pin extraction and one for the key , so painfull . not so painfull if you subscribe to utp and have the volume of work to make it pay , ie on 1 month utp at £200 , if your doing 20 cars a week so 80 cars a month then the cost is only £2.50 per car which is minimal , if doing more cars a month then this cost comes down to be insignificant , if doing just 10 a week and 40 a month then a fiver a car , less than 10 a week and tokens are more viable , with a tool like zedfull or mvp and smart pro its all about your volume and use as to whether you can make it pay .

i do alot of ducato and camper vans on this chassis , as well as the variant boxer and relay models , so i get as much use out of the merelli coverage as the delphi , all depends on the fiat coverage you need.

the fact that tdb1000 with tdb500 is token free would appeal to many

Yes tokens are costly if not overly busy and the fact you burn 2 tokens for Fiat is painful. For coverage and non token going to look at the TDB package

Thanks again 👍🏻
