can anyone confirm if these are risky like the bmw EDC17C41 flip ecu`s are

use genuine tool and edit by obd.

not an option at the moment kess dont support obd so only ktag prt249

PCM has a cheap solution....
VR... And write by obd... tactrix openport...
A 10 minute job...

MED 17.7.1 / 17.7.2 / 17.7.3 / 17.7.3.1 / 17.7.5
A M8 use this protocol works like a charm...

A M8 use this protocol works like a charm...I did see that but unfortunately the ECU is with me and guy needs it back tomorrow
