What info field (SW/HW) from the CAS module should I be looking at to determine if the vehicle has CAS3/CAS3+?

Sorry for the dumb question, I know most have tools that just tell you, but I'm trying to understand how CAS3+ is detected by software applications.
Obviously applications are looking at something within the EEPROM/FLASH binary that tells them, but what is it?
