Hi...firstly thanks for replies to my posts...they have all been helpful.
I am now interested in attaching a HDD to DB500c. Is the unit likely to have one already? If not does anyone suggest attaching via IDE or a NAS unit?

Thanks again in advance

The Dm500 doesn't have usb capabilities or an ide interface so those options are out of the question.

The only options you have are a networked storage device. You can either use a shared folder on a PC but this means the PC needs to be on for you to record or playback.

You could also get a NAS enclosure which would connect to the dreambox via the ethernet port.

To be honest, the recording and playback quality is not the best on the dm500. If you are really serious, you'd be better getting a DM600-PVR which can have an internal hdd. But that's not always within peoples budgets.

If you go for a NAS, something like this would be ideal...

...all you need is your own hard disk. You can get one's with hdd already installed but they're obviously more expensive.

Let us know what you decide and we can go deeper into getting it sorted. :)
