View Full Version : how to lift tinny pins from MCU's???

i have trouble lifting tinny pins from MCU's.. i am working on a 2019 Subaru Impreza. inside has MB96F6A6 . i need to lift pin64 to read. pin is soo small. i dont know how to lift.

what are you guys using to lift these small pins. ???

Cut the trace to it, then solder over when done

yes that what i do. when has a trace. but this pin has ground.

In this dash race of pin 64 go to under processor.

You must lift pin. I use a cutter and an iron solder for this kind of job.

what do you mean you use a cutter?? you cut the pin?

I use the cutter to lift the pin while I heat it up with the tin soldering iron.

or needle and hot air gun, carefuly bend it upwards, use needle as a pry bar between other pins

or use one of those craft cut knife / scalpel.

a needle works very well, just gently use it as a lever on top of the next pin whilst heating the pin with your soldering iron....

I agree with yellowstilo .
smallest needle you can find , remove solder with braid first , then gently lever up from pin next to it while applying heat from soldering iron tip .
patience & a steady hand and it will work .
DO NOT RUSH THESE JOBS
it will cost you with a f**ked up dash

i use needle for acupuncture,just need to twist litle at the end to pull up pin,work very good

Mate...you only need a cutter and soldering iron.

large sewing needles is best, grind the bottom end and bend slightly. Bend too much and it breaks
