these units have a hardware bug in the microprocessor that causes them to request the code very randomly, there was a firmware update CD fix available from ford, but if it is "locked 13" you need to take the player apart to defeat the code (it wont load the update CD) - I have instructions somewhere on how to remove the code feature if needed.
