Nexiq Usb-Link to test Volvo trucks in VCADS?

Hello! everybody!

Dose anyone know how to use Nexiq to test Volvo trucks? I used it to test, but it was not successful.

software: VCADS 2.35.10 from this forum
hardware: NEXIQ Usb-Link
and I have a EBS module from a Bus.


First, I use NEXIQ's Device Tester to test, it seems ok

Then, I use VCADS, config like this:

1708 ?s protocol is that u need choose... m8 not 1939

But my ecu was using J1939, and I assembling and wiring it.
and you see that the Device tester can scan the Brake system using j1939.

sorry, What's the mean about "m8"

I have tried to set J1708 protocol, but still error

also I think that I'm not test the car, In the case of only one EBS module, is it can not correctly test?

m8_mate........ofcourse youre brake sistem works with 1939 protocol ...to dialog with vecu sistems ...in general itsn 1939...the real protocol is 1587...is how are connect ....betwen modules....I have connect with nexiq a lot of time in volvo trucks or buses ....and in a first time I cant work because the protocol was not correct but I see in the diagram the protocol and then I can connect with 1708 ....to day I will try in a volvo bus let me see if is the same.....
by the way which model of bus is it?

I don't know the model, I got the EBS from a friend.

Now my concern is that One EBS cannot correctly tested
This is different like test a CAR?

do your other modules have power if not it will not find and connect

maybe is not volvo .....if u try to connect alone ...u need the software to module`s brand..

like wabco or bendix.

the service connector connected to more than tow modules if you scan Break module that not mean the Engine module work properly .

On my vcads at the (comm. unit confi) I have rp1210a selected but under that it gaives me a choice of adapters I had to choose the usb- link. If that helps.

days ago I had the same problem ...with the brake unit connection with nexiq...and try in other laptop....the problem is the autrhorization m8....with some keys u cant connect with extra unit controlers like brake unit controls asr unit ...trans unit ....abs unit and suspention sistems unit like wabcos.

Problem has been resolved.

This EBS module's connector has J1939 signals, but also J1708 signal,
You can only test it through j1708 signals in VOLVO Vcads!

How old is the system? If it is a VMAC 3 system you will have to use rp1210a setting which is 1708. VMAC4 is 1939 but sometimes can be 1708 is earlier VMAC4. VMAC3 is always 1708. Hope this helps

did you install the driver disk that came with teh interface adapter ? if you did then try plugging in the adapter to the truck first and then open the program and it usually works . make sure you have selected the right protocol and the correct version of truck have a good one hope this helps you

Why does the screen shot above say "USB Linkl CAN 250" in the top under description? Can you pick a different USB Link from that drop-down box? That is probably your problem....

the proble is not protocol..how I told him in a first time ...need to connect to module by j1708 ..and he tell me that he tested j1939 with test device...but thats protocol to comunicate betwen modules.(can 250 line)..not to get information. of them

Please help, I can't male vcads pro to connect to 2005 VNL truck, when checking the connection with nexiq tester it works, but I can get vcads to read ECM. I check the comm setting using RP1210A USB Link J1708 same thing as post #1 but I'm using J1708.
