Do XBoxes suffer from the cold?

I have had a box for a while which was working OK but has a faulty drive. I didn't have time to look at it so I put it in my storeroom for a while. It's been there a week or so and the tempratures in there have dropped to maybe Zero at night. Today I decided to look at it, when I started it up I get no picture or sound. There are no red lights, and the lead is fine coz it works OK with another box.

So, could the very low tempratures the box has been subjected to have damaged it? If so, any solutions or do we have a dead box here?

Temperature extremes can effect anything electronic.

If you move something freezing into a warm humid room condensation will form shorting things out on the boards.

Extreme cold can also fracture solder joints (by rapid contraction of the base metals) especialy when turned on without alowing the equipment to slowly climb back up to ambient temperatures first (by rapid expansion of the base metals).

Moving from very cold to very hot in a short space of time (and vice versa) is bad for anything.

I shouldnt think a few nights at around -5c would do any real harm though if you left it to warm up and dry out before powering up.

could be anything tho mate i had a xbox a while back didnt play it for about 4 mounths and it had nothing wrong with it turned it on one day randomly to play and rrod :(

my box suffers more from the heat(rrod) than the cold if you know what i mean
