Have you flashed it recently? If not have you had a look at the C11 capacitor on the PSU board. If it is bulging that may be your problem. Replace it with a 16V 1000uf cap. Maplins stock them at 50p each.

Have a look here http://img89.imageshack.us/img89/725/svcapfixpnggv2.png

Its says 10V in the picture please use a 16V as said. Dont bother removing the C21 either. I have asked Martin to update the picture.

Jtag if the TSOP is corrupt not if its just a cap issue.

Chip that takes the firmware, you need to reprogram via Jtag if corrupt.

i have removed the cover from the starview and had a look at both c11 and c21 caps.

the c11 '+' sign on the cap is still there and there seems to be no leakage.

is the method only if there is '0' displayed on the front?

Yes it is. But you have edited your OP to a 1st gen box now, why? The C11 doesnt have to be visually damaged to be faulty you need to check the voltage going to/from the PSU with a multimeter.

No apologies needed I just wondered why you changed your post. Is there any power going to the PSU? Is there anything on the front display?

You could Jtag it but my advice is bring it to your local TV repair shop first and they will check the PSU for you.
