I just got Ktag today, was trying to read ECU ( edc17c10 TC1797 Ford GPT ). Getting following error while reading.

""Communication error with the ECU: control all connections; if the problem persists, send log file to the assistance"

Any clue on this matter? I have applied 15v 1.5A power to ktag . Also tried stock adapter which came with Ktag which has 12V 1A. same error on both.

Looks like power issue, should I try 14v 5A power adapter? what is safe range of voltage and ampere on ktag/ecu?

Ktag clone from Shenzhen...? Problem should be quality in combination with GPT...

Ktag from Alientech...?

A Ktag read it with normal stock power supply 1.5A... And without any problems... If not, contact support...

its a clone yes. Found this link below where they mention about lack of power in ktag for newer EDC17 ECUs.

Will purchase new 12v 5A adapter tomorrow and see how it goes.

Will purchase new 12v 5A adapter tomorrow and see how it goes.Buy yourself a 10-15amp one as you will need it when doing sid208 they are quite power hungry

Something like eBay item 232548886922

At least this way you'll know power is not the issue but also check power at ecu incase ktag is not passing voltage out correctly.

Thanks, my ECU is EDC17C10 with TPROT12. Are You sure ktag can handle that many amps? I am gonna try with 12v or 14V 5A adapter tomorrow ( gonna get it from local market ).
Will try to find alternative 15v 15A bench power supply in market.

Yes it can it will basically allow the ECU to use what it needs some people use a car battery to do the supply

i NEVER used power supply over 12V-1A and no problem for all ecu that i do with ktag : sid208, each edc17 (from u05 to cp45-c50-c56), me-med-mev-mevd17, denso or other ecu.

Check continuity of your gpt cable. Same problem for me and solved.

I’ve used with normal power and gtp without any problems, 12v 1.5 amps clone tool.

So no need of additional voltage besides 12v 1A? Do I need to open Ktag and rework on PCB? I will check GPT cable pins though ( however I am not that good at re-fitting pins if it breaks ).

Guys, I still have this issue. I recently tried again, by giving ECU 12v 1A directly from power outlet using power supply. Still same error. I am giving up on this now. Looks like Ktag clones are just piece of junk.

Yeah but i m just doing this for my car as a hobby. Cant afford genuine tool just to tune my car. Any there is no tuner available where I live. Nearest is 600km and so much complications.
