This is really strange but past 2 days I had 4 guys ( 2 of them good friends) asking me do I know about some home made software that car read Eeprom in VW Kessy form Touareg,A8, Phaeton via OBD. I told them I have no idea that is possible.

Does anyone know anything about this?

Any screenshots? Why they are sure that it was working? On which years?

I know these modules support write commands (to eeprom I guess).
This is used by dealer tool to reset them.
Most likely they will also support some read commands as well ;-)

What would be the use to read/write eeprom? Just to modify the VIN to be able to use a used Kessy module+remotes in another car ?

No its not so easy to change VIN only and the cars you mentioned have completely different kessy for example A8 vs touareg. I am working with these kessy couple of years already, sucesfully repair a lot of them but i do not know anybody who is able to used second hand kessy by recode, only option is to clone MCU

Hello
if the kessy is semens VDO you can adapt to another car. You need to check immo status - if is 6 you can adapt on chanel 50. If is different from 6 you have to change to 6 and after that to adapt on chanel 50.

I know how to adopt/program it, I just want to see if is possible to read it OBD, like people saying. It will be much easy this way instead pulling Kessy out.

Hello. NOT possible is to read eeprom from the kessy by OBDII. Need to open and read 93c86 eeprom.

First I would say that most likely always there is a backdoor to read/write eeprom.
However for example with Passat CCM module this is also possible, but in code the most important regions are blocked to read or write.
