Is there a mkv converter that will allow me to convert to ps3 and keep the same top quality when played back on ps3 (free of course) 1080p and 720 films i need to convert.

If you have got a descent PC then get PS3 Media Server http://ps3mediaserver.blogspot.com/ (wlmailhtml:{AAB1131D-251C-45B5-988F-B04FDE03E3B4}mid://00000028/!x-usc:http://ps3mediaserver.blogspot.com/)[/URL]. This program can stream on the fly any video file including MKV's, also you will need a gigabit router hard wired not wireless as the wireless just will not work properly as the video will stutter. If you want to convert then get MultiAVCHD http://multiavchd.deanbg.com/ (wlmailhtml:{AAB1131D-251C-45B5-988F-B04FDE03E3B4}mid://00000028/!x-usc:http://multiavchd.deanbg.com/). To use video converted in multiavchd you will need a usb pen drive or an external hard drive formated to fat32. There is another program called TSMUXER http://www.smlabs.net/tsmuxer_en.html (wlmailhtml:{AAB1131D-251C-45B5-988F-B04FDE03E3B4}mid://00000028/!x-usc:http://www.smlabs.net/tsmuxer_en.html) this will just convert the file without adding the borders to the video file, select the AVCHD option when converting and also split the files in 4GB by selecting split and cut and split by 4GB. Also select the video stream and change the level to 4.1 if is not at 4.1. You will also need this program AVCHDMe20 to play the converted video file from TSMUXER [U]http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=143631 (wlmailhtml:{AAB1131D-251C-45B5-988F-B04FDE03E3B4}mid://00000028/!x-usc:http://www.smlabs.net/tsmuxer_en.html). This program will convert the file name created in TSMUXER to compatiable files for your PS3. You will also need a usb pen drive or an external hard drive formated to fat32. I use a ipod 160gb Classic. As you will not lose the quality it is best to use a external hard drive. Thanks for that Urmy,i tried ps3 media server wireless and you are right it stutters a lot.I will try the multiavchd as i have a 16gig usb flash drive,will let you know how i get on.Many thanks Urmy

Hello,

you can use Mkv2vob to convert your files to play them on your Ps3. It is very fast and Quality are the same as Source Files.
