I've now used about 5 weeks trying to work out how to record from my DB-500-s - but I'm stuck with a crappy quality...?

I've tried recording from the webinterface, iDreamX (MAC), MPEG Streamclip (MAC+PC), and tried timer recording via the webinterface, nothing seems to work.

Have read a lot of guides and tut to see if I could sort out the problem that way, but nothing helps.

My next step would be to put another Image on (using gemeni 4.6 now), to see if that helps...

Is there anything else I can try - before considering buying a DM-600 :-)

Someone on another forum did a trial and said the recording from a dm500 were crap because the tuner is weak. When you do the recording from your dm500 you are not trying to record to wireless pc through your router are you? In my opinion the dm500 is great box to start with but a dm600 is far superior and quite reasonable if you get yourself clone box.

yep.. great post Curious.. The D500 is great if you use it like i do.. No cocking about with plugins, skins, bouquets etc.. Just use it to watch the football..

Anything else you need a better spec'd box

No, I'm not trying to record to a wireless pc, it's all cabled. Perhaps i should start looking for a DB-600 boks... :-)

Have also read about the weak tuner in the DM-500, but wanted to check if there was a thing I could do to get it working!
