The problem should be the other way round. Of how to make the hardware (including exclusive firmware) to work with the SW. The whole working package could be found, for sure.

Has anyone got the Chawkiz universal programmer to work? I have implemented the circuit in veroboard. The photograph shows flying leads taking power to the correct pins 5 & 8 on the device but this means;

1. Pin 13 on the 74HC257 (4b data i/p) is connected to +5V whilst 4a is connected to the Data out on the device?
2. Pin 3 on the 74HC257 (1b data i/p) is connected to gnd whilst 1a is connected to the chip select on the device?

Is this correct?433304

As I mentioned in my previous post I implemented the circuit posted earlier in this thread in veroboard. Finally found some time today and connected it to a PDG011 - success !!! So I can confirm the circuit and included software posted previously by Chawkiz works perfectly.

I didn't bother with a DC jack or the DIP sockets. I used myn IC clamp to read the eeprom in circuit so just soldered in pins rather than wasting sockets. Also I didn't have a right angled 25 pin parallel connector so rather than buy one I used an old printer cable and wired the tails to the board.

I used an old Sony Vaio lap top running XP to run the software - the parallel port had to be 'enabled' in the bios (F2 on start up) with bi-directional mode switched on (also in the bios).

Anyway a big thank you to Chawkiz and here's some pics in case anyone else wants to make a universal programmer on the cheap - like me :-)
