Hi you did not state a year of manufacture, but from 01 to 06 the method for re-syncing the remote key-fob.
Locate the alarm control module, located drivers side lower fascia, on the side is a switch marked set and off, switch to set and press the lock or unlock button.
Turn the switch back to off, should now be synced with the vehicle.
Just had another look at your request and you state the year is 2008, I am not sure if this method still applies as they stopped selling Santa Fe's in late 2006 in the UK.

1.Connect the DLC cable of scan tool to the data link connector (16 pins) in driver side crash pad lower panel, turn the power on scan tool.
2.Select the vehicle model and then do "CODE SAVING".Thi
