Hi, I'm replacing a damaged BMW E36 DME 1 429 695 0 261 204 173 with a second hand unit.
Is this going to work, or do I need to copy any data from the old unit?
Any help with this issue will be appreciated.
Thank you in advance.

Thank you Starling_vit for your reply.
Do you know the part number of the EEPROM? Or where it's situated on the board ?
Thank you in advance.

OK, so I've found the EEPROM on the board, It was covered with a sticker, but I don't have the necessary hardware to attach to it on the board.
Is this tool readily available, or do I have to swap the chips over.
I have the equipment for smaller chips which I just copy the information across.
This is the first BMW I've dealt with.
Any help will be very much appreciated.

Just swap 28F010 PLCC 32 and 93C46. Soldering station and soldering skils is what you need to do this work
You can also find ISN in 28f010 and pair with ews. Swaping is easier

Found the 28F010, but not the 93C46 - is there another number it could be ?
Thank you in advance.

Swapped over the 28F010 PLCC 32 and the car runs perfectly now.
