Hello everybody,

I have just read out two times a 2008 Skoda Octavia (CEGA) with Kess Clone. I have used the suggested protocol 198 for reading. Is that alright?

With which protocol do I write the file back? I heard about using 501 protocol to write.

Thanks in advance for the help! :champions:

Can someone say what protocol is best to write the file back to the ECU? Standard in Kess is 198.

based on sw number 1037564053 i would not risk writting this file OBD without first unlock ecu for serial writting.

Should I use protocol 198 or 501?

You must use same protocol you used for read.

But remember not to cry when you brick your ecu.

Thank you! Because of this thread I thought it was save to write over OBD:

Can I recover my ECU with Kess V2 if problems occur?

It all depends on your kess quality, and your skills. But yes, kess should be enough to recover in case of dissaster. Opening ecu and doing bootmode(thing that you should do to know 100% if you can write ecu obd way).

Thank you all! Have the ECU just programmed.

Everything worked perfectly. So even after the diesel update, there is no Tprot in cars before 2009!
