View Full Version : Both needles not working properly after editing eeprom

Guys, what could be the reason for both - speedometer and tachometer needles to not work properly after removing them and editing the eeprom?

They both dont go any futher than zero mark when speedometer is dissasembled (they rest at 0 and don't go lower than that so I think they are installed properly)

Also when I turn the ignition on, they go from ZERO to maximum.

But when I drive the vehicle, speedo is showing double to triple the real speed (starts from zero, but at 30km/h it shows something like 80kmh etc)
And also the tacho needle at the idle shows approximately 3000rpm instead of 1000rpm.

Are both motors broken or could that be because of an eeprom ?

Speedo is from Suzuki DL650 (same as Suzuki DL1000), year 2007-2010

when the original eeprom saves, the fault disappears

I am not sure, I haven't tried it yet.
But is it possible that tachometer doesn't show proper RPM's because of an eeprom? I think eeprom doesn't have anything to do with the tachometer? Or I am wrong?
Should I try to reset it back to old eeprom code?

in eeprom is the whole configuration of the meter

The EEPROM has everything to do with both needles. You did everything right except for the software changes.

unfortunately you killed the meter with poor eeprom reading
you need to look for new eeprom content

My code was a lot different than yours. I hope that was the cause of the problem.
Tomorrow I will try if it works and then let you know.

Thank you for your help guys!

And what programmer should I use? Is MiniPro TL866CS that bad ?

no, he must learn to use what he has
I'll make him an eeprom with your counting because I'm lazy
and it should work, I think
