Just wanted to share my experience with airbag ecu. After replacing the airbags you can do the following to sort out the airbag lights.
My experience with Audi, VW and Opel airbag is that the crash data can be cleared via obd2 port using a diagnostic scanner such as Launch.
The Japanese cars Honda, Toyota, Nissan, Subaru and Mazda a change in airbag ecu will do the trick. you can replace the airbag ecu with a second hand clean one. They are not locked to a VIN number.
For Citroen else you clear the crash data from the airbag ECU you will have to replace it with a new one. The airbag ecu are locked to the vin number of the car.
So my advice would be to try and reset the ecu airbag unit while still in car via OBD2 with a scanner. If that does not work then remove the ecu and try to clean the crash data

Nice try, but not all your conclusions are correct...
For example:
- new Subaru units and Mazda units from about 2005 have VIN of car stored in the memory.
- when you clear new Audi/VW units only via obd2, you only remove faults codes, not crash data it self... Crash counters in measuring block will show you the truth. :)
- also Opel (all new plastic GM units...) units crash fault can locks the unit under specific condition, and you will not be able to clear it by diagnostic...

I am only talking from my experience.
AUDI year 2014 and VW 2017 I have replaced the airbags and the SRS seat belts which were deployed in crash. Airbag lights were on. After replacing them cleared the faults via OBD2 and no airbag lights were on or any faults reported when scanned.
Same thing for Opel 2015 replaced the airbags and dashboard then cleared faults via OBD2 and all good.
Mazda CX 5 year 2014 replaced airbags and airbag ECU cleared faults no problem after.
Honda jazz fit civic accord just replaced airbags and ecu units no airbag lights on after clearing

Very true.
Just saw some people doing it the hard way removing ecu unit and flashing. So was saying maybe the easier more obvious solution could be reminded

Ok, but read again what's I wrote. You talk about faults codes, I talk about crash data and crash counters in measuring blocks...

Ok, just wait, someday you will have situation, that B0052 will not disappear after clearing faults. ;)
Mazda CX 5 year 2014 replaced airbags and airbag ECU cleared faults no problem after.
Not possbile to clear fault B1193 with only "Clear Codes" diagnostic comand...
Honda jazz fit civic accord just replaced airbags and ecu units no airbag lights on after clearing
If you replace airbags and ecu units - OK, but this is not "crash clearing solution"... :P
