Hello

Since I really don't have a clue about most feautures of the TM-6800 I would like ask a few questions:

1. I didn't update my software, but everything is runny smoothly. Are there any major advantages about updating?
2. Do i always need to update with a null modem cable? Or can update with an USB key?

tnx in advance...

:) Hello Philz

I have had various Technomates 1500 5400 and now the Technomate 6800 HD. It is much easier to update using a USB stick than a Null modem cable.
The advantages of latest firmware and softcams are that you keep the various channels open.

I only update software when the channels i was experimenting with stop opening otherwise there is no benefit whatsoever. Or if there is something new

tnx for the advise guys. I guess a softcam is an update that emulates a hardware cam?

Hey, quick question, since this is a UK forum, not Using ASTRA 1 & 3, are the softcams on this site of any use to me? Is there a list of the unlocked channels?

ill tell you a list from the top of my head..
1w. RCS DigiTV
4e. Arqiva Cryptoworks
13e. Polsat
19.2e Premiere
23.5e a few randoms
Thats about it for packages but you will get a few channels here and there which open.
Note: Nothing at 28.2e is viewable through softcams.

hello guys

I would like to implement the following, using a TM-6800, a Conceptronic CFULLHDMA, WD MY BOOK WORLD.

http://users.telenet.be/hemelhuis/concept.jpg

Following might be a problem:

1. WD Disk has two partitions FAT 32 for TM-6800 (connected with USB) and NTFS for Conceptronic + PC (HD Rips are often more then 4 GB of data) also connected over Gigabit Ethernet.
Do you think the TM-6800 will handle such a drive?

im not sure about that to be honest. the technomate was desighned for simplicity rather than the technical side. but maybe someone else shed us some lite on this.
